Just showed up on Zoa frag

Sorry for the crappy cell phone pic but was filling ATO tank and noticed this on my fire and ice zoa frag. This was not there the other day. The flowing tentacle thing on the left of the zoa

Ok, so took the frag out and when i went in to cut it out it reeceeded and i couldnt see it. Will it detach and move? I can relocate the frag to a qt tank if so.

I'd throw it in your QT, it will likely shoot out a bunch of babies at this point.

Ok, its in the QT tank i will watchout for it to pop up again. Read that a pepermint may go after it. I could get one and add it to the qt and once it eats it i could bring the peppermint back since i am not sure i want one back in the display.

Yeah, i had a fresh one ready but it sucked back between the zoa polyps so i couldnt see it. I would enjoy watching a shrimp stalk and eat it though... may be easier on the coral. Some say they eat coral though...

Mine never did. But , shrimp are jerks.

When I get frags , after the dip etc etc , I let them rest in a dish. Apps will usually open up then.

I will have to add that step to my dip process. I may grab a peppermint and add to the qt tank with the frag and see how it behaves. Want to be sure to get it all.

Just use aptsia X during next cleaning when your pumps are off for at least 20 minutes. Just don’t get it on your Zoas

Was going to look at that when i go to the lfs today. I have the frag in my qt tank so i think that will be a good place to administer the aptasia x. It is out again this morning so i should be able to get the stuff on it. I really hope its the only one but will keep looking. Saw some nasty videos last night of tanks over run with them. One guy dumped what looked to be 200 shrimp in his tank. What a mess that will be once the aptasia is all gone.

I went with the Joes Juice route since thats whay was available at the LFS. So, i squirted it on the thing and now am waiting to see if i killed only it and not the zoas it was on.... The whole frag is still in the QT tank for now. Going to give it a day. Never used this stuff before. Is it an immediate kill or does it take multiple applications?

Depends really. In belive they are all just a concentrated kalkpaste. It kills by burning them. It's lime. (As in bury the body with lime)
If you get it in their mouth it's best. Then it goes right inside.

I've turned to just adding kalk powder to the stuff. It's more concentrated and burns it all.

In thing to look as though, if it's easy to get out of the tank, do so.
Sometimes they spit babies as a defense. So i do it in a dish.
You probably saw it curl up. That's when I scrape em off.
