Hello. I never heard of finger leathers until last night.

Do I have a finger leather or Kenya tree?

This is a sinularia leather

Please note for the future: please refrain from posting a common question as emergency. Emergency is someone in crisis situation who is losing fish or coral, has a chemistry issue or tank leak and needs immediate attention

It is because I lost a Kenya tree and yet this one survived hence the urgency to understand what this is.

Is this little guy at the top left corner also the same!? He survived also! The Kenya tree fell apart and I have all these little pieces of it around the tank that still open??

It appears to be but for best identification, pics best under white light intensity
A kenyii tree will appear to fall apart or lose branches as a method of reproduction and overtake a tank in no time

That is not an emergency. The analogy would be dialing because you only got 9 chicken nuggets in your 10 pack meal.

That is a sinularia leather.
For me it is an emergency. I think your perception of an emergency is different than mine.

I lost a Kenya tree, it tore itself apart this one survived. I need to know what this is, why it survived and not the Kenya tree.

An identification to me if critical at this point and to me is a valid question for an emergency forum.

saddened to see how others don’t think this is an energy when a coral has perished and I’m trying to prevent the demise of this one should it be the same species.

As requested. Thank you again for helping me

Left sinularia
Right- Kenyii tree
Is there care very different? I had this beautiful dark purple “Kenya tree” and it literally tore itself to shreds and was shedding brown mucus.

My water parameters are perfect spot on in every category. I did in-depth testing. I’m not sure what happened.

Do these sinularia like low par or high par? Is being at the bottom of the tank ok? It’s not very deep?

In no way is this an emergency.

Both similar offering moderate light/ not the PAR requirements for SPS coral and medium flow. How are you testing water?

Hanna checker and Salifert tests. Ok ok perfect. I don’t know why my other Kenya fella apart :( is this common?

I believe this is an emergency as I lost a beautiful coral and I’m very very sad about it

Being sad isn't an emergency. If it was I'd spend most of my day in crysis because I'm not a happy person. You would be much further ahead to say yes and thank you and learn how it's supposed to work rather than trying to justify your action.

Kenya tree will grow in toilet water with the kitchen light on.... I'd keep a close eye on ur other livestock. Brown slime is a concern for sure.
Don't feel bad these ppl come out the woodwork to slap someones hand. Just don't use the emergency tag anymore. There r a couple ppl on here u can tag and get the same results without the look at me cool guys jumping in to be a babysitter on a reef forum..... Gl bro!

In the kindest way, this is not an emergency as defined by the Reef2Reef. They (and the rest of us) would prefer it be used as intended, not because somebody wants fast answers about something that that is not actually the type of "emergency" that it was designed for. Two of us have kindly tried to explain that to you.

This is not an emergency. Kenya trees reproduce by shedding their branches. The shed branches float around and take root somewhere else in the tank.

Also - corals perish and sometimes we don't have answers, especially if the rest of the system is doing well. Kenya Tree, leathers and other soft corals can become unhappy for various reasons. Without specific details about your system, how long the coral has been there, new additions, water parameters, etc. None of us can guess what may lead to a corals demise.

Sorry that you feel so much angst toward people trying to help. Maybe Tomorrow will be a better day :)
