Kessil 360we

Well the livestock isnt that old but the rock and sand are from a 6 year old tank. All rodi water and I'm at work I dont have all my tank specs on me but everything is within acceptable ranges or what you would want to see them at anyway.

Seeing your parameters gives those of us a baseline to help you. Alot of folks say params are near perfect but usually they far from it or they don't test often or all params.

Well I'm not being rude here I get what your saying my issues isnt with tank parameters my issue is with help getting these lights dialed in I'm not very happy with them at the moment I'm ready to go back to t5s and call it a day.

I would go 10% not to shock tank inhabitants.
This is what I adjusted it to right now see what happens tomorrow I guess.

Thanks for the info as well it's much appreciated, I've been doing this for about 8 years now just kept everything old school and decided to come out of the stone age now I'm wishing I kept all the stuff I used to run.

As others have shared the intensity was low for a full mixed reef. I would also ask, but I might have missed it, how far off the water are the three lights?

For a comparison point here is the light, and color of my 2 A360WE over my 30x30 cube. The lights are about 7-8 inches off the water.

10% intensity increase week over week is fine. I would say a 15% jump to start wouldn’t be too much.

Best of luck!

I feel your frustration. Have you considered adding t5s? I saw a marked improvement when I added t5s to my kessils. I now run one 250w halide with Kessils on either side of that to fill in shadows.

Mine are 8 inches over the top of the tank as well. What's your intensity at and color if you dont mind me asking?

Welcome to Reef 2 Reef

You need to test your phosphates and nitrates / zeroed out / for bleaching.

And ramp up those Kessil's

I personally think you need a much higher intensity level but this is not your main issue I believe. If your corals were bleaching out when you started increasing your intensity level, my best guess is that this is related to really low phosphate and nitrate levels. Ideally, get a par meter and you will know what kind of par you are at. Corals have a wide range that they can tolerate with proper tank conditions. I can't imagine that you are running too much light based on what you posted with 3 kessil A360we (I run 4 kessils A360we as high as 80% intensity PLUS a 6 bulb ATI T5 fixture on my 6 foot tank for reference).

I will say this, though. In my experience, corals are much more tolerant of T5 lighting than they ever were with just LEDs. My corals always seemed to react much more negatively to led changes (intensity or spectrum) than I ever have had to worry with T5s. Even combining the LED and t5 together, it seems like I don't have to worry about the corals being that sensitive to light changes when I make them on the LED portion (but that may be because the t5s are providing the majority of the spectrum and par, so the led change represents a really small change overall ?). If you like T5s, I think you'd love the kessil and T5 hybrid mixed together. I think it's a fabulous combination.

Heres a pic of my tank

Increase the whites, just a tad and assure water flow is moderate and not blasting away. Kessil controller may give you the better effect you desire

I have three 360we's 8" above water 12" a part covering a standard 75G mixed reef with intensity @ 80% and color 30%. On a 150G you would need 100% for sure just for mostly soft and LPS or add t5 for SPS.
