Just ramp up a couple hours and ramp down a couple hours with a peak of 6 to 8hrs. Try about 300 par at the top and you should be okay. Just go slow. The great thing about the new lights and the 700's, is you can increase intensity in 1% increments. I always use a mid day point in my schedule, which allows me to raise the intensity in two steps. First I raise the mid day point (2pm) by 2%, then wait a week or two, then raise the points at the start (10am) and the end (6pm) of my peak by 2%, then wait a week or two.
Good idea, had to move my scoly to a lil corner because i was getting 200 PAR on the sand and was looking very stressed showing skeleton already.

This is more then enough for sps and i will actually drop it down to 60% since all i currently have is some LPS and softies @minus9 im taking your advice btw not gonna tweak the lights anymore as i know that stresses the corals out too much.

The only thing I would change is increasing violet to 100%. Use it during peak intensity.
 
I compiled all of the schedules in this thread into a google spreadsheet, with charts showing the curve through the day.
I plan to try a few profiles out and see what I think before I start adding corals to my tank in the next few weeks.

Up to this point I've been running @tsav87's schedule, but I guess I feel like it has the lights on too long?

Some points from @melev -

with some bullet points here: - "high noon" should last for 3hours

I guess my first thought is that his 3hr "high noon" seems really short compared to all the lighting schedules I've seen. For comparison, BRS recommends a 6hr "high noon" for the AI Prime: I assume this is because @melev is getting morning sun on the aquarium to supplement the earlier photoperiod?

At any rate, I adjusted @tsav87's schedule and will be running with this for a while to see what it feels like...thoughts?

Isnt 16 hours a lil too much? I usually just do 12 hours on my lights since thats what most corals get naturally. I do like that setup though.
 
Most of that time is spent at pretty low intensity, it's above 40% for about ~8hrs...but yeah, this AB+ ish schedule looks too long? I'll be trying the schedule I posted a little bit above, which has the lights above 40% for more like 4 hours

No, I don't have a par meter, or even any corals to watch for response! Hoping to get some feedback and advice to follow, trying to get things "perfect" before introducing corals.
 
I like to keep it simple with a 12hr cycle with a 6 to 8hr peak. I'll start with a 3hr ramp up and down with 6hrs peak, then I start to extend the peak time 15 minutes a week until I get to 8hrs. I also use a midday point to increase intensity in smaller increments. Try not to over think lighting, you just need duration, spectrum and intensity, done.
Also, I set the violet to max during peak hours, no red and no green.

Yea about the red i heard it promotes algae but not sure on that.
 
I'm not sure if it promotes algae or not? I really don't think it's strong enough to do so, but who knows? If the green is 490 or 495nm, then I can see a benefit, but I think you would need more of them? There would have to be a long term test to verify the benefits of the red and green, if any? I use Orphek OR2 blue plus bars with my Kessil's and it's a great combo.

I think you can simplify it more. Think of it this way, start time, end of ramp up, start of peak, midday, end of peak, ramp down to off.
Here's what I do, but you can modify as needed or completely disregard.
Time - C - I - V (no red or green)
7:55 - 0 - 0 - 0
8:00 - 0 - 10 - 0
10:40 - 30 - 80 - 100
14:00 - 30 - 80 - 100 (midday)
17:20 - 30 - 80 - 100
20:00 - 0 - 10 - 0
20:05 - 0 - 0 - 0
I'm changing my 360x by 20 minutes each time, 10 minutes on each side of the ramp. It sits in the middle of two AP700's, so I'm adjusting it in smaller amounts and not at the same time as the 700's. My 700's are running at 90% and their peak is a little longer than the 360x (which I added last year).
I've ran my Kessil's this way for the past 5 years with great results. I had three 160's on my 22g nano and I run two 700's and a 360x (w/orphek bars) on my 90g shallow.
