Kessil AP9X?

Oops misread that.... 8'x4' is a large tank and more would probably be needed.

I think you could do 6 a360x over your tank for softies. I don't think the ap9x is good for your use case.

You could honestly go way cheaper on the lighting. If you want the sunrise/sunset use an external controller for cheaper lights or look at ai primes and cheaper kessils

Each 360 is good for 24x24, ap9x 48x24. With a 4'x8' tank you'll need 8 or 4 respectively

Don't think I'd be able to run 8 without adding another dedicated breaker (Tank already has 4 dedicated breakers I'm out of space in the box)

I want an overall more aesthetically pleasing look for the tank as well. Also, a controller won't gradually dim/brighten the lights. Or will it?

Anyone use these lights? If so, how do you like them? Also, any par values would be appreciated.
I had a pair but wanted more color coverage and went to orphek Atlantiks

Why don't you think ap9x would be a good fit for my tank?

I watched this like 10 minutes before you posted lol. I know I could grow softies with Vipars, but I want an overall better light. From everything I'm seeing Kessil's ap9x might be one of the best lights out there.
Just considering the lights visual appearance you can't beat Kessil in my eyes. I believe BRS voted them most visual appealing also.

Well, it's settled, went overkill with everything else on the tank might as well not skimp on the lights.

The price hurts. No doubt. In my eyes they are the top of the line LED though. After you bite the bullet it's easy to appreciate them.

If they can increase my corals growth rate/coloration and give my fish a better/more natural environment, then it's more than worth it.

I did not care for it. Just a matter of preference. It is an odd looking light and I just didn't like the look of the light or the spread.

I think you can start with 3 AP9x's to start, but this depends on rock scape and the corals you want to keep. I think color % between 20-50 is pretty good, but this is up to the end user. Take advantage of the violet channel and match it's intensity to your overall intensity. Red and green are for aesthetics, so 5-10% is usually good enough to render/highlight some colors (especially in fish). You can also pair them with your favorite LED bar to cover even more ground? Check out my build thread and you can see how they do the job nicely.
