KH Director

the connect app is still home wifi only correct?

Yeah. I think some guys have done some port forwarding to allow it to work away from home. Port forwarding is over my head. I might actually try to figure it out, but then there are some security risks as I understand it. I don't know what it takes to make the app work away from home network on GHL's part, but would be awesome if it did! It's basically all I use to monitor/control my setup. Over 90% of the time I'm on the app

If you’re going to make it available externally via port forwarding, you may want to make sure you configure a PIN code! Otherwise anyone will be able to connect and make changes...

Quick question, my KHD came with one big section of tubing. The manual refers to using PVC Flex Tubing for the reagent, and silicone tubing for everything else. So the big chunk of tubing that I got (probably 15-20 feet worth), is that the PVC Flex Tubing?

The included long piece of tube is silicon - the PVC just arrived at the warehouse today, will start shipping next week

Will premium aquatics have the 3 bottle reagent special? Or any other retailers with cheap/free shipping? Thanks brotha!

Hello everyone,

I am new to GHL. I am currently get a KH director with a dosing 2.1 slave and connect to Profilux 4.

I found the KH reading from KH director is far away so much with my Salifert testing.
Is there any something wrong I have done in setting?

I set the KH director step by step from the manual.

1) calibrated the ph pen twice
2) calibrated the pump 1 (fast), pump 2 ( slow), pump 3(fast)
3) calculate the length of tube from tank to dosing pump 1 plus to the KH director
4) the length of tube of reagent only 40 cm
5) no bubbles found both in water sampling and reagent in tube.
6) water sampling is 80ml

After sevearl testing, KH director reading of ph stablising at around 7.5, however my salifert testing was 8.3.

So I have to adjust the reading by adding up +10%, then my KH director reading will be at 8.3-8.5 matching with salifert.

I don’t think the KH director will have so much deviation from my Salifert.

Is there any setting I missed?
Appreciate if anyone could help. Many thanks.

Do you notice any air bubbles in the reagent line? That cause reading issues.

Thanks for your reply.
No, I don’t find any bubbles in the tube of reagent and water sampling

How did you calibrate the sample & reagent pumps, a d what are their flow values ?

I calibarted the water sampling and reagent pump by measuring the output of ml in my cup after the pump was stopped.

Water sampling flow value is 35ml
Reagent flow value is 5ml

Am I right?
Thank you.

To get more accurate you need 80ml readings.

2 items:
As @scuzy mentioned, you can change up the sample volume from 60-100mL .... the larger the sample volume, the more accurate it will be.
However the more important point; those calibration values are not accurate enough. Use a scale to measure the output, down to the decimal.
Especially the reagent pump, it’ll probably calibrate around 4.1-4.5.

I see. Thank you for your reply.

I will re-calibrate the pump again and see whether I can get a good value.

Everything here requires that the Salifert test is accurate. I do not know anything of the Salifert test - does not use it - but for the one I use - the reading moment is critical. It should be read exactly before the moment it turns from green to yellow. If I wait for a stable yellow/red colour - the test show to high. If Marco´s advise not help - please check your testing routines for Salifert

Sincerely Lasse

Like @Lasse said, it's the same for the Salifert KH test. You need to take the KH from the first colour change. I've done it the wrong way for 10 years, so my readings were also about 0,5 higher with Salifert than the KH director when we started using it :)
So just check the readings from the first colour change, doesn't need to switch all the way over to purple/red like calcium test etc.
