I've tried everything to get rid of these starter corals, if I take the rock and soak it in some water like at 1.030 or higher . will it kill this stuff without hurting the live rock? I read this on another forum but didnt really know if it would work.

Not many people would agree with you killing the coral.. If you do not want the starter coral why not give them to a local store or a local reefer?

well im gonna agree with gary on this 100 percent... when i saw the title before opening it i thought you were just starting off losing corals you were trying to keep..... if you tell us what exact corals we could help ya more....

why try to kill a living animal ?? thats not fair to it .. what did it do to you ?? i disagree with trying to kill something .. just donate it to a LFS or pass it on to someone else just dont kill it ..

i agree with not killing them i had a problem wrasse and i took it to the LFS and they gave me a credit for half of a coral i bought. i was just going to give it to them so i didn't have to kill it and they told me they'd give me half off a coral so it ended up working out better to not kill it, i guess the good karma paid off

Don't kill it. The goal of this hobby is to try and keep things alive in our glass boxes. Give it to someone or a LFS and get something in return for it.

Didnt mean to offend anyone. They are yellow polyps, greenstar polyps, green palys and some mushrooms. They look great but are over running my 75 and I want to make room for sps.. No local fish stores where I live. Tried to trade for clean live rock but no luck. The rocks are too big for me to give away and have to replace.

Im not totaly against you killing them at all,I know this sounds very odd coming from me,but I think if there is a over population of them, that no one wants, you have to do somthing with them, but try to rid of them before killing them.

I look at them like deer,if we dont kill off some of the population, how will we prevent them from not taking over.

Pluck them off the rock with tweezers then put some vinagar in the wound. Let it sit for 10 minutes, then rinse it with salt water. It is kind of like killing aiptasia. I've never purposely killed a coral, it just sounds like this would work.

Not fair to the animal after suviving,Just donate, trade or sell to another beginner or someone that likes them.

frag it out would be my opinion, cut the star polyps into 2x2 or 5x5 sheets and put them up in the for sale section for 10 or 20 bucks + shipping same with all the rest, just because they are worthless to you doesn't mean others see it that way. Make new people a deal and you get money, they get a steal of a deal and are more likely to pass it on and help others later when it is there turn.

I hate to be the Zhukov of this thread, but. . .

a weed is just a plant growing where it's not wanted; and i think corals are closer to plants than animals as far as things like feeling pain, consciousness, abstract thought. Frag what you can and, if you can't get some of it, take the rocks out and vinegar one section at a time. Wait a week and do the next section and so on (so you're not nuking then curing a lot of rock at once). As long as you're killing more per week than is growing, you eventually win.

Smother them in two-part epoxy, such as aquamend. The only other option is totally removing the rock, no amount of picking will totally get rid of them.

You could also pull out the rock and smother them in a kalk paste, wash off the rock with some saltwater and place it back into your system. That might work.
