1st, the laser that he has is strong and will work - no doubt. It is obvious in the video. But I am not sure the exact watts that it is. It is impossible to tell when getting these things from China. Heck even with my laser, I do not know how many watts it actually is. All I know is that it works and it burns.

In talking to people who sell the parts (as I was going to make one on my own until I found this company in China) the only way you can guarantee the exact wattage of the laser, is if you buy the diode yourself, and build it from scratch.

For a 3 to 5 watt laser (which is REALLY strong) the diode and parts is going to cost you around $140 based on people I was talking to who know their stuff. (it may have even been a 4 watt laser, as it was over a month ago I was emailing with people, and to be honest I forgot the exact watts, either 3, 4 or 5.) ... BUT the bottom line is that exact diode to buy and make would be a STRONG laser.

I paid $110 for the first laser I showed, and it is STRONG. I can tell by his video, it appears mine is stronger (it does not matter though, as long as they work), as I had aiptasia in my tank the same size, and it destroyed them in much quicker time. The new laser they just sent me to try out, is ridiculous and cooks them in half the time, its amazing. 2 to 3 seconds and they are scorched. The laser also heats up quicker and needs greater rest periods due to the fact that the thing is so dang strong and hot.

But again, this is NOT saying anything negative about that laser he uses .. it is GREAT and it will work. Just putting it out there that when you are buying something from China there is no real way to tell the exact wattage. You will be able to tell though if it works, as it will either burn or it will not. There is no way to fake that.

For me, I need soemthing stronger, as I have little patience...lol, and I had a pretty bad outbreak of those nasty majanos, and I needed some serious power in which I could scorch things in quicker amounts of time.

But Mel's the man .. as he created this monster that is myself and these lasers. He opened my eyes to using a laser to kill them. And now I am ALL IN and out of control. lol
 
Ok so here ya go ...

Here is the link to the laser they just sent me. This bad boy is fantastic!! This price may be high for some, but its worth every single penny if you ask me and has been proven to be an absolute life saver for my reef and a tremendous investment.

Ill try to post a video later of it in action ... I have some top down zapping to do when I do my bi-weekly water change today.

PS -- if anyone wants the 1st laser I bought .. which is STILL an amazing laser that will do wonders for you, send me a PM and I will send you the link. That one is about $20 or 30 less.

Let me email them again .. I did not see this "choose your power" option with the price going up.

And again, this goes back to what I was saying in my last reply talking about these lasers ... you just dont know what is the TRUE wattage of these things are. While this company has been great with emailing me, sending me this most recent strong laser, getting it to me quickly, etc. I just do not know what the true strength is. There is simply no way to tell .. and Ill be honest, even asking them, I do not believe what they may be saying in terms of the EXACT power. lol.

BUT, and I cant stress this enough. THEY BOTH WORK! The work GREAT! So I dont even care what the exact watts are. Could care less.

However with that being said, I would only reccomend buying the 1st one I had and pictured (which you can get for $98 and I will get that exact link -- which is what I paid)

I am not sure how much the one they sent me is. I dont know because:

* I have no idea what the exact watts are on this new one
* I could not tell you the difference between a 3 watt laser, and a 5 watt laser by watching it burn. Heck I dont know who could tell the difference. A laser "expert" I guess ...lol

If I had to guess, I would think my new one is somewhere between 3 and 5 watts. And they even told me when I asked them just this morning what the exact wattage of the new laser they sent me .. they said between 3 and 5. lol.

Looking at this latest link though that they sent me, again I was under the assumption that was a flat price for the one they sent me. I guess I was wrong. I know they are eager to get the word out about their lasers, so I will email them again and get things figured out. I will also get the link to the laser I bought for $98.

Going by the prices on that link I posted, that is a bit pricey for me. Even knowing how valuable they are. Thats a bit much. So with that being said, the 1st laser I got is still a great buy. Crushes majanos and aiptasia and is stronger then the ones you can get on ebay. ( I also know this because a local fish store owner bought one from that ebay link, I brought mine into the fish store and we compared. The one from this company was stronger and did the job quicker. Again, the ebay laser WILL work, but this 1st one Igot from this company was stronger. Stronger = quicker burning time)

Also, thru that link they sell the 1 watt laser for $129, and even admitting that it is hard to tell what strength my latest laser is, I GUARANTEE it is stronger then 1 watt. 1 watt you are going to have a hard time burning aiptasia .. you can, you will just really have to leave the beam on the aiptasia and it will take longer. You want between 2 and 5 ideally. So I am not sure why they are saying a 1 watt is 129.

If that is the case, i will get the link for the one I bought for 98 and it is wonderful and stronger then 1 watt. Thats for sure.

Hope this makes sense and helps ... want anyone interested to get a good laser and get a good deal. Reefers helping reefers -- isnt that what life is all about? ;Happy

Any updates on a possible discount?
I was looking to build a true 5w with 2 18650 batteries but the cost and time to do it would be close to $300 if not more. 2 16340's is better than the smaller ones.

With a discount I'd be game.

Yah the last link I posted on here will get you the same one I have that is fantastic. That has the discounted price on it already. I opted for this as well instead of building my own .. just easier. And this laser I have works wonderfully.

Granted my tank is only 18" wide, I was still able to kill the dreaded aptasia. It takes about 30 -45 secs for large ones, almost immediate fry on smaller ones. Batteries seem to last about 5 mins before recharging which seems to run about an hour. Only drawback I've seen is it takes about 3 weeks to get here. Happy Hunting!

I purchased the same one after seeing Melev's video. It took about three weeks to get here and I've used it the past few nights and put a hurting on my aptasia issue. I ordered extra batteries off Amazon that will be here tomorrow. Right now I'm saying it's worth the $60.00 I spent.
