Koji Wada Pink Nepthea troubles...

Does anyone else have a hard time keeping this thriving?! I have bought 3 now and I can't get them to keep going. They get so big, then start falling apart...literally. Is this why they are so "rare" and freaking expensive?! Lol

Mine was so prolific it spawned babies all over the tank. But I'm not sure what it's provenance was, I was just told it was a Kenya tree. I didn't do anything particular with it.

Mine does well so far....was listed as a deep water coral maybe too much light?

And much different than the normal invasive nepethea...

It certainly sounds more like a Kenya tree and not a pink Nepthea ... Will take over your tank if you don't remove it!

Yeah, my Kenya tree is going crazy, I am sucking up baby trees all the time! My bright neon green nepthea are doing great. The Koji Wada was doing amazing until a few days ago it got really nice and big and full.

Hi,
I been growing the pink nepthea for some time now. Watch out for your nitrates and phosphate level. I am running my tank in the lower end.

How do your other soft corals do with that?

I have had one for 3-4 months now and it hasn't grown at all. Not deteriorating, just not growing. I have tried it is a couple of different locations in the tank and it stays the same size. I have it in a 20 gallon nano with a number of other softy frags that I am collecting for a new larger tank. Everything else is doing great. Unique Corals states that it is a "high light" coral, so I have it high in the tank at the current time. Keep waiting for it to take off.

I got my 1.5" (at best) frag from UC about 2 months ago now and it's grown like crazy and is always fully inflated. It's kind of bent over in this photo but I'd say its a good 3-4" tall now and with a bunch more branches than when I got it. Where have you been getting yours from? Maybe try UC if you haven't.

Parameters are as follows:

Lighting: 100 Par
Flow: Moderate+
SG: 1.026
Alk: 7.8
NO3: 2-3 ppm
PO4: 0.05 ppm
CA: 450
MG: 1400

I have been wanting to buy one of these but right now Uc only has the big expensive ones. I have a credit with them to so sucks that I cane find a smaller like 1 inch one from them. Do any of you want to sell afrag and ship to florida. I dont think it needs overnight shipping espially someone close so should have to charge a high shipping rate

Is this the same species as my green nephthea tree? I've never heard of what I have being referred to as invasive.

I am not 100% sure, but I don’t think it’s the same.
the Japanese pink nepthea has little prickly calcium tips all over.

I love seeing old threads of mine! So it was definitely a nitrate/phosphate issue. I had ALL kinds of problems after moving everything from my 2 year established 120 gal tank to the new 380 gal. It was ROUGH. I am happy to say things have settled in...and the Koji Wada is AMAZING.

One marine biologist says feed as you would nps. Also I wonder if they thrive better in cooler waters.

High Nitrates and Phosphate will melt this coral. Treat it like a SPS.

I keep my tank around 76 to 78. Now that the nitrates/phosphate issue is under control, it is growing like crazy. No feeding, other than what it gets from the water. I love this coral. It is VERY different from the regular Kenya trees/green neptheas. Has a very different texture.
