Kole tang’s sore

Please help ID this sore above the tang’s eyes and how to cure it.

There are 5 fishes right now on a 20 gallon quarantine tank. The tang also had ick a month ago but now cured after dosing with copper. No behavior changes and eating normally.

If that's the case, suspending the use of activated carbon, a good diet with vitamin supplementation, checking for and eliminating any stray voltage from the water all seem to help.

They are eating frozen food right now I may try to feed them more. What vitamin supplement can you recommend?

I’m also considering on transferring her to a 15 gallon sterilite container. Do you think this will be better than being in a crowded 20 gallon tank or will the transfer stress her out more?

I've been using Selcon, which is more of an Omega-3 oil supplement than vitamins - @jsker may know more about vitamin supplementation.

Not sure about the transfer to a Sterilite . . .

Thanks guys!!! Will check my LFS for those today! And try to feed her more then transfer her to another tank once she’s better.

She’s not doing good. I found out that my ammonia is 0 but my nitrate was through the roof so i just did a 90% water change just now. She’s not eating anymore and would slowly get tired of swimming would turn horizontally then flap her fins again to regain balance. Seems like she’s not going to make it through the night. Is HLLE this fast?

No, not normally... Her fins weren't that ragged before - and I'm now seeing several pale spots on her sides that weren't there before, either.

She may have a bacterial infection . . . in which case, you could treat with antibiotics . . . or possibly flukes, in which case Praziquantel (Prazi-Pro) would be the treatment of choice. Was she treated for flukes prophylactically?

@Humblefish, any thoughts for this tang's sudden downturn?

For the freshwater dip, use RO/DI water, well oxygenated and temperature matched.

The Ruby Reef Rally contains Acriflavin, an antiseptic - you can use it as a short-term bath, again, temperature-matched and well oxygenated.

If flukes come off in the freshwater bath (they'll look like whitish or translucent sesame seeds) get some Prazi-Pro from the aquarium shop.

If not, and the nature of the beast is more bacterial, you'll want antibiotics (again, you should be able to source these from your LFS) Furan-2, Kanaplex and Metroplex is a combination that has worked for many. Dose all three to provide a broad spectrum, and continue for ten-plus days. Nitrofuracin Green is another antibiotic option.

~Bruce, who wouldn't bother with the Pimafix at all ... fungal infections are vanishingly rare in salt water.

Should I start treating the other fishes as well they are not showing any signs yet

I just dosed the rally on a bucket where she’s at. It seems like she’s getting worse.

All of my fishes are in the QT now because I treated the for ich a month ago so I’m planning on just changing the water on my bucket after 90 mins. Then hope she survives the night.

Should I start worrying about the other 4 fishes in the same QT tank as her?

Flukes would be contagious, but bacterial infections are generally not - at least, not in a clean environment. Keep up on water changes, don't allow things to rot in the tank, and your other fish shouldn't come down with anything bacterial.

It doesn’t seem like it’s fluke because I did not see any white flakes during or after the FW dip. She’s constantly on her side now and would just move if I move the air hose. Seems like this is a lost case. I would but the antibiotic just so I have it on hand too.
