Kole tang super skinny

I recently got a Kole tang that i had quarantined for 20 days. This guy is an awesome find and was very healthy looking when i got him. big eater from day 1. Never treated with anything because there was no signs of sickness or weird behavior. He's been in my DP for about 11 days now and i noticed he's really really thin. He's eating like a champ and is definitely the first one in the mix once the food hits the water but he's so thin i can almost see through him. I haven't noticed any stringy poop to tell if he has intestinal worms. He eats Nori, Pellets, Mysis, gut loaded pods, I mean you name it and he picks at the rocks constantly so i know he's eating. I also add Brightwell Aquatics Vitamarine-m with every feeding mixed with the thawed feeding. So i don't see malnutrition being my problem but he's super thin. I noticed my Coral Beauty had a bit of stringy poop though. If intestinal worms are my problem, can I prazi-pro my whole DP? I have a few frags and Besides the Tang and the Coral Beauty i have 2 yellow damsels, Maroon Clownfish, striped goby, Engineer goby and all are fat as can be. I need help cause i don't want this to turn into an aquatic holocaust nor do i want to lose any members of the Coral family. @Humblefish @melypr1985

Prazi isn't really good for treating intestinal worms -the worms make sense to me given the circumstances. You can feed metroplex/general cure + Focus to all the fish to get rid of it.

I have Dr g's metronidazole. I believe that's the same but what is Focus?

focus will mind the meds to the food making it effectively reef safe. I've never used Dr. g's so I can't comment on it.

Ok. I just found what it was. Thank you so much mely. You are heaven sent. I'll go get some tomorrow and start the medication. Do i need to follow up with water changes? Or not necessary?

Either might work for intestinal worms, depending upon which strain your fish has.

OK you can use that to soak in fish food. And as Meredith said, you will also need Seachem Focus to bind the medication to the food. Take 1 tablespoon of fish food, and add to this 1 scoop of metro, 1 scoop of Focus. Add a few drops of SW until a paste like consistency is achieved. Let sit for 30 mins and then you can feed. You can refrigerate or even freeze the leftovers.

Nori is the best way to fatten tangs appropriately. Red nori is most often the favorite over any other by a large margin although regular green is often alluring as well.

Any other symptoms? Hiding from light? Swimming in to powerheads? Losing color? Scratching?

I don't know where to get red nori but green is always available in the DP. My Coral beauty swims like crazy into the powerheads and everything else for that matter. But the Kole tang, no symptoms. He's always front and center except when there's a lot of people at my house. Then he's a shadow basker

Quick update. I did the treatment today day one. The whole tank ate like pigs but i had to add garlic to get it to happen. I figured it might be the case. The food smelled really mediciney and even i would've shown away from it but keeping my fingers crossed.. Hopefully i can fatten up my little buddy before he wastes away to noting

Your best bet is to call seachem Laboratory there in Georgia and they will tell you what to use the right way that's how I always go by they know what they're doing

Ok. Today I'm in panic mode. I'm at work since 4:30 am and my fiance feeds the fish breakfast at 8:30 before she leaves for work. Every fish came to eat except the tang. He stayed under the cover of some rocks. She tried the black worms and nothing . Should I QT the tang and dose metronidazole directly into the qt? Maybe add prazi also? @Humblefish @melypr1985

I would wait until you get home and try to feed again. If the fish is still hiding/refusing to eat, it may be time to put in a QT. Pickup some API General Cure on your way home from work, as that contains both prazi & metro.

Api general cure is added to the water column, to the food or both?
