Are you implying the giant bottle of Seaklear pool Lanthanum chloride is too expensive?

How much phosphates do you possibly have? La3Cl is so cheap!

I purchased two 32 oz bottles years ago, like 8 years is my guess. I am not even close to using more that 40% of the first 32 ounce bottle. This is super economical implemented this way.

of the seaclear or something else?

Ive been using the TLF and Brightwell options which are definitely not full strength

I've never seen any data on what concentration is best, and I would not assume that bottled hobby products ever had any evidence of what concentration worked best either.

Concentration may not even matter much.

My view on concentration is economics. Using 1 unit vs 5 and getting the same results. Aside from that they should all be equal.

Economics of what?

I thought the question was

"Assuming I already have solid lanthanum chloride, how concentrated should I make the dosing solution?"

A 5x concentrated solution will be much more effective than a 1x concentrated solution, but will cost 5x as much.

The economics of the different products available. The op stated that they have been using TLF and Brightwell products previously which are both far less concentrated than Seaklear.
The stated problem:
Tired of buying the manufacturer watered-down LaCl3 options
My solution:
A readily available product with a higher concentration than those other options; no mixing needed. More bang for your buck which I infer to be the end goal of this endeavor.

I’m not understanding why concentration of the formula wouldn’t be important, can you explain plz?

No not expensive, I just prefer a super-concentrated option (like the phosphate RX) where add a few drops a day -vs- a bottled option that’s like 5-10ml/day

I’ve never used Seaklear, but it seems like a bottle is about the same price as the crystals. And I’d honestly rather make my own knowing exactly what’s in it if the price is negligible

Do you know which is best, dosing 1 mL of 1% or 0.5 mL of 2% lanthanum chloride? That’s what I mean. It may matter, or it may not.

I dilute the tropic marin lanthanum even further because then I can use my doser with larger amounts which I figure is less sensitive to small doser errors than tiny dosage amounts

Diluting Lanthanum chloride is better. I don’t recommend dosing stronger concentrations less often because it can precipitate lanthanum carbonate (lowering alk) or lanthanum can even be dissolved in the water column without getting percipitated (which may be harmful to certain organisms).

I just listened to a podcast about a guy that dosed this and killed every tang in his tank.

Everything in moderation. Was it the reefbum one? If so look at my YouTube comments.

oh I see what your saying now

I thought you meant there was no difference in potency if I were to mix it with like 200ml water vs 400ml water
