Lanthanum Chloride Crystals?!?

Bingo but heard from another local about how aggressive it can be.
I think the proper perspective is how agressive someone can be with it. The chemical has no malice, it is what it is. Improper use can lead to undesirable results.

Good info here!! . I’d like to know if anyone has experienced or heard of any detrimental harm to coral . I’ve been using phosphates-e for a long time and have never had any issues that I know of with fish or corals. But I have lost a coral or two for no apparent reason and was wondering how or if this can adversely affect the coral maybe not right a way but maybe if it accumulates in the coral tissue and possibly builds up a toxicity after x amount of doses . I’ve heard other people talk about after dosing their coral don’t look good or have shriveled up and I’m sure some might be written off by people adding too much and too fast which would be a problem bringing down phosphates too fast . Just wondering if they’re any issue with the chemical itself causing possible long term damage to our coral ???

There have been a number of first hand posts of damage in this forum. I've never used it myself.

I think the issue is when it precipitates and gets in the DT, which then gets to the tangs (other fish and corals seem to handle it pretty well) and makes them get all die-y

I run it drop-by-drop into a filter sock in my filter, very very light and slow and don't get any cloudiness. On a larger system this method might be more of an annoyance

I just listened to a podcast about a guy that dosed this and killed every tang in his tank.

Thank you sir ,Are you saying “damage to coral “ as I heard only about damage and or death to fish in this thread .have you heard about damage to coral ???

Talks of using pool products scares me. When I worked for a pool company we would use 1 bottle of this on a 20,000-40,000gal pool. It was to be immediately cleaned from the filter within a couple days. Strong and effective. We switching to pool products on our expensive tanks now to save a few bucks? Can buy pool grade soda ash for around $20 for a 50lb bag. I'm sure they have some calcium at a great deal too. Sounds risky to me. Your tank, your call.
Really like the idea of making your own. Please update

I have not really kept track of everything that might have been listed, but I only specifically remember clams and tangs.

Yeah I’m nearing the end of my brightwell bottle, I’m gonna get the crystals and give it a go
