Like I said above, 100 micron is all I have at the minute. Better than nothing.

I’m not adding LaCl to ATO. I’m dripping it in to the weir mixed with RO water.

I am removing the LaCl with wet skimming.

Some lanthanum may remain dissolved (some folks see it by ICP) and some will precipitate as lanthanum carbonate, removing alk from the water.

Thanks Randy. Should I just wait it out and keep feeding heavy to bring phosphate up or do large water change ?

Maybe I didn’t reply correctly, I’m curious to know if LC will eventually consume itself ( react with other elements) or should I remove it via water change. I’m also experiencing some cyano and dinos at the moment.

It will eventually precipitate out. How long it takes depends on how much you put in.

You overdosed lanthanum? By how much?

GAC won’t be useful. Alk may be low.

not sure how much .. i was using sea clear.. I forgot that i did 5ml in my skimmer and messed up.. I dose only like 5ml into the sump directly and thus into the water column rather than exit through a mesh sock.. tank is now a mess. lost a personifer. rest seem to be recovering but still missing some in hiding..

Crazy how fast it changed things .. in a matter of just ten min or less the fish were breathing hard.

I now have three socks going .. and will toss them in day or so when the water scrubbing is done.. two in sump and one on exit on skimmer..

I also found my large canister pleated filter and set that up as well. 40 years of reefing.. and made this mistake.. crazy..

alk went from 8.10 to 7.85

i have a large 700 or so gallon system.. I have forgot to mention that I have used other product made for reefing that is LC based.. but the sea klear is for pools and more and is much much stronger... Was searching for a way not to spend 100's a month on Rowaphos to control phosphate..
