Hi all,
New here. My son and I keep a 75g tank and are looking for ideas for a larger showcase type fish. Right now we have:

2 Ocillaris Clowns
2 yellowtail damsels
Large BTA that hosts the clowns
2 yellow watchmen gobies
Various soft and LPS corals.
1 Pistol shrimp
2 peppermint shrimp
Hermit crabs and snails

We really like the dwarf angels but are concerned they'll eat the corals.

Any ideas for a larger fish?

Thanks!

Lots of people keep flame or coral beauties in reefs. It is a bit of risk, as you said.

The best tang choices would be any of the Ctenochaetus genus except Chevron. So kole, white tail, truncated, tomini, two-spot and a couple others.

Another option would be the bigger fairy wrasses, like a solon or ruby head or exquisite.

you gotta get some tangs in the tank for algae control. And they look nice! Here is my naso tang in my 220 gal Screen Shot 2021-04-28 at 10.14.45 AM.png

Thanks everyone! Great suggestions here.

I've had people tell me that any Tangs are too big for a 75g. What's your experience on that?

if you get smaller tangs they will do just fine! You can also get some wrasse that will help algae and are fine with a 75 gal.

I'm leaning toward the tomini tang. Looks like a good size and might be the more reef friendly?

I also like the wrasses. Those look amazing.

Thanks everyone for the ideas!

Tomini would be among the best choices. It will be fine in a 4 foot 75.

Wrasses are great, but none eat algae at all (other than the giant parrotfishes).

Good to know about the wrasses. Thanks!

I would suggest a yellow coris wrasse as long as you have sand. A beautiful electric yellow and eats pests.
That's a beauty. We are running sand. Just for my knowledge, why do they need sand?

Yellow tangs would be fine in a 75 gallon. But with yellow tangs being worth an arm and a leg good luck finding one for a decent price.

Yes, always!

All Halichoeres, Coris, and leopard wrasses hide/sleep in sand.

That's what I heard. Hawaii banned the export of them, correct?
