This is a tube for vermetid snail. Are you referring to the slimy material in the hole? Looks like a sponge, which are generally harmless filter-feeders. Yes the slime seems to be around the inside of the hole, I'll see if it grows into a sponge. Just didn't want something to burst into a million unwanteds.
