Looking good Lasse! Love the pics details even the out of focus.
Yes, I agree, magnesium fairly stable in the system if all is normal with calcium .......Last time (a couple of months ago) it was 1360. As long as I have no problems with calcium - magnesium leves is not a issue for me.

. But – it was the sponge I wanted
I look forward to updates Lasse! It is frustrating when there is coral loss and no idea why it happens, is it not? Do you mean organic carbon dosing? Are you using skimmate as source or what is your organic carbon source?
What kind of fast internal carbon source would the bacterial population create? I would think that CO2 is the easiest, though maybe not most desirable, but there a lot of corals that can use this directly without conversion to bicarbonate. Just wondering what you think would work the best as internal carbon source that a bacteria does not want? That is a hard one, I know you have the answer and that it will take time, but really cool nonetheless. Essentially you are trying to create a small little world in your tank system. Wow!From an other thread
@nervousmonkey
I use skimate as a source in the beginning - the idea was to build up a bacteria population below the DSB. After a while I start to use a combination between alcohol, sugar and vinegar. Just now I have stopped all organic carbon sources – probably I will start with skimate again. I want to build up a bacteria population and an environment that will act as an internal organic carbon source. It will take time – I know.
