Cuong, (Bay Corals) will be sending me my frag of Captain America's on wed. Im really excited but I wanted to know where do you guys keep yours located in your tank. I also have a frag of mandarin oranges coming.
My tank 30 inches deep with 3-400 watt 12 k reeflux bulbs. How fast do your CA's grow? thanks in advance.

thanks. IS there much flow? Have they grown very fast for you?

What about color? I can't seem to get mine to color up.

When I put mine in high light, it closes and barely peaks out. LOL!

well thats one thing ive noticed..its very cool but i never got the color to pop ...just this week i had to move some rocks around and now its in the bottom third of the tank so i dunno if there better inlittle lower light

Thanks Tim.

What do you have for lights on your tank Rev?

Im wondering if I should just place them on the sand bed

(3) 250w Radiums w/Lumenmax Elite Reflectors. :)

I got one about 6 weeks agao and it is bright cherry red and a nice blue all the way around the red.I have mine under 250watt Phoenix 14k's and 4 65watt current Pc's.I also have it all the way up on the frag rack, like 4 inches from the surface. One thing when I bought it though from WWC they did say if you can get them to color they are beautiful, so apparently some people have some difficulties keeping the color. All in all I guess in my opinion they need high light.

was the tim thing to me ? if so its algood but im trevor lol
my bad, Im blind and I thought that your screen name was TIM not TJM. Well Trevor thanks for all of your help.

I have one coming on monday from a trade I did about 3 months ago - lol (I traded for all 5 of the proto's since that is all he really had at the time)

I'll try it up high and see what happens.

I'll be honest though, even the nicely colored up ones I saw didn't look all that nice unless they were under 20k radiums or a lot of actinics.

That seem to be the case with alot of different corals. some people got and others dont:bigsmile:. I have great luck with sps but so far I would say that Im about 50/50 when it comes to keeping nice zoas and palys. Im going to keep trying though

I keep mine in lower/moderate lighting. I think the colors look best when they aren't getting blasted. Low flow too for me. Color is awesome on mine, and I've always thought they were one of the most distinctive palys I've come across. I keep mine in the sandbed under six 54w T-5's and they seem to love this. They don't mind getting a little bit more shade either.

Growth is spectacular for me, but I think this is going to be an individual thing. Everyone's results will vary. I got two polyps from WWC early, near the end of Feb. '09. By June I had probably about 25-30 polyps. Right now I have no idea how many I have exactly, but I'd say even with regular fragging I probably have in the neighborhood of 100 polyps spread through the system. The polyps coming from Cuong probably came from me originally, though he may have also gotten some elsewhere. They have always proven very hardy for me, as much as any other Protopaly (purple death, nuke greens), though they do take longer to color up to full potential (size-wise).

Thanks for the input. I hope that I have the same success as you.

As for growth I now have 3 tiny babies sprouting so I guess for 6 weeks and starting from a single polyp that was fresh cut when I got it, it seems to be good.Like Nanofins said, they are like PD's and Nukes growth wise but mine are loving the light.Just a couple pics,I know they are not open much but I just woke them up to snap a couple.all pics under just attinics and the second was a flash.just wanted to give an idea how bright the red gets.and I know the pics are blurry,I need to get a tripod

well the only problem is that have horrible luck with purple deaths and good luck with nuc greens.:)

I wish you luck,it is definately worth giving it a try.Very nice polyp IMO.Now all you gotta do is find the sweet spot in your tank for it.I have blasted mine from day one but then again thats how they were at WWC.

I'll ask Cuong the details of where they are located in his tank. Thanks a ton guys

Dang nanofins you have any pics? I bet that is sweet looking!
