Watch them for a little bit. During the rescaping you could have shifted flow that may also effect the leathers.

Yeah, the toadstool is really closing up and looks like it's losing some life/health on it's stalk. I'm making new water for a water change now so we'll see if that helps anything. All leathers except one haven't changed flow at all. So I'm pretty sure that's not it. I made sure to not change flow for really anyone when I rescaped.

Idk though, I've seen them shed before, this looks different. I've never seen them look like they're decreasing in size and look unhealthy. When mine shed they kinda just close up and get glossy.

Mine shrunk down to half thier size in mine. Especially if I touched and moved them. They really don't like being touched or moved.

Did they shrink that much when they shed or when you moved them? Thing is, I didn't move the toadstool AT ALL. Only rescaped other rocks that kicked up some dirt and debris. The other two leathers I did move, so I guess I'm not too surprised about that. Weird how they all did this at the exact same time.

Touched and moved. Messing with them as I moved stuff in the tank made them very angry at me and did what I call the leather pout. (Brushing up aginst them). For being such a hardy coral they tend to wear their heart on their sleeve.

Looks like shedding/reproduction but can also be a salinity issue or lack of water flow.

It could be, I just am doubtful because of how I've never seen this behavior before, and all leathers did this RIGHT after the two events I described. Seems like they triggered something. Salinity is right on at 35PPT. Flow hasn't changed at all.

Update: Things are really not looking good. I've also noticed, all my "pest" xenias are completely gone. In the before picture you can see them all over the walls and overflow. This makes me think there's absolutely something in the water. I did a 25G water change last night, and a carbon reactor is setup and running. Any ideas on what's going on here?

Regular old live rock from my LFS. Three pieces. Totaled about 20-30 pounds. I have a theory, I'm thinking it might be copper. Maybe they used one of those rocks in their tanks with copper for the fish? Fish are doing fine in the tank, all coral are struggling, xenia melted away, and last night my turbo snail spawned, which I've never seen him do. Could I be on to something? I'm thinking about going to get a test kit now. I'm running carbon in a reactor.

Ya you may be on to something. They have material that would remove metal. Ill never buy rock with fish in the tank.

Well, there wasn't fish in the tank that the live rock was in, but maybe they took that rock FROM tank that had copper in it? Know what I mean? Either way, I think I'm gonna grab some cuprisorb or a polyfilter.

Got the test kit. Looks like absolutely no copper is in the tank at all. Even had a reference that came with the test kit, so I know I did it right. I'm really dumbfounded here, especially now that I noticed the xenia's melted away almost overnight. I got a polyfilter in the sump now.

Update: Toadstool about the same. Mushrooms are still looking really healthy, but the xenias melting away really got me confused and worried. Polyfilters have been in for two days, and aren't turning any colors at all. Still running carbon. So far I've done about 50 gallons of WCs. Should I just not do anything else in case of WCs/changes in general making things worse? Or should I do more WCs in case there is something that needs to get out of that water?

Check parameters and let things settle down. Loads of changes really fast so just let it mellow for a bit .

Parameters are all the same as I posted before, nothing has changed there. Phosphate is decreasing slowly from the WCs (.75 now, I know that's still ridiculously high but I'm working on it slowly). Maybe the two water changes (30G each) actually had a negative effect on the corals since they were used to such awful quality water for over a year and a half?
