Crazy, boxed marked "Live Fish", "Up Arrows" and "Fragile"! Go figure.....
It's a good thing that Jason's triple bag packaging of the corals was so good or else this would have been a disaster:confused:

+1... Ups is one of the worst shipping I've felt with. Ordered an nem and zoas with one day shipping and didn't receive them until 5 days later. Everything was nuked.

Wow and I though UPS was bad!!!!!

I had a shipment bounce all over the US and they initially tried to blame it on the seller. Said it was probably sloppy writing and they read it wrong. Then I showed them the label (which the seller had sent me a photo of) which was clear as day, and they then admitted that sometimes the pickup people mix up zip codes when entering the info into the system.

I just got a package from FedEx that had my anemone in it. I thought it was gone when I saw the box. The bottom of it was soaking wet. Fortunately, the nem was fine and it was a package of algae that had split open. It was double bagged but was still handled rough enough to damage both bags.

We are very critical of our shipping and post systems/services here in the states. We in the US are spoiled, I have seen it far far worse in most other european countries. Our shipping is actually very good.

Yes but when we pay so much on shipping fees $30-$50 you would think they could do a bit better.

I know somebody who worked for them.

He told me they do not care what it says on the box.

The company makes them pack those trucks insanely quick.

Like 1 Box per second and you have to load multiple trucks at one time trying to figure out which box goes where!

Then you have to purposely smash the boxes on one side to keep the boxes from falling over.

So some boxes are destroyed on purpose.

Don't do it like that you get fired!

It is a very stressful job.

I just got a shipment of frags from aqua sd via ups . Not a scratch on the box . Lucky I know but my jbj 45 I got back in June the top cover was shattered and the box was busted up . Had a small jbj a couple years ago and the corner was busted and the FedEx guy swears he didn't drop it on the corner but it was a dent in the ground where it sat .

Yikes! That's bad. I remember one time UPS left my package from Liveaquaria sitting upside down on the front porch. I get that they are in a pinch for time, but how hard is it to follow the arrows on a box that has live animals written all over it? Thankfully I was home when they delivered it, but he was already pulling out of the driveway by the time I opened the door.

I have seen threads like this on FB too. I have concluded that it depends on where you are located down to the neighborhood you live in. At my Location Fed-Ex is careless more often than not compared to UPS. Example: Fed-EX delivers an Electronic Device where it is going to rain without putting a plastic bag over the delivery Same scenario UPS puts a plastic bag over electronic package when it is threatening rain. (BOTH items came in their own box in living color.)

I think ups always tried to plastic over the boxes in the rain. I've had our experience with both but fedex seems to have many more errors than ups. I hate that shipnex seems to be sending everything fedex lately as i have until 5pm with ups for express but i have to have fedex out by 330pm in my area.

One thing i find shipping corals, is that if you leave almost no air space in the bags, and tie them loose not super tight like in a pet shop, they are much less likely to break. What i mean is tight knot in the bag but keep the bag loose. Idk how to explain that better.

Water tight but floppy bag I think is what you mean. That's how they are when I get them from you at least haha. Works great

I had the same thing happen with FedEx when my Tinkeri butterfly was delivered. Styrofoam had cracked just like that. The outer box was dripping water. He was barely submerged in water. All the remaining water had leaked out due to his spines puncturing the quadruple bagging. I'm glad he made it and its thriving in one of my tanks today.
