Leave it up to Fedex

Interesting fact FedEx has been having a very bad day today. Their online API has gone down three times, the most recent at 12:15pm est and is still down at this time.

I had a shipment bounce all over the US and they initially tried to blame it on the seller. Said it was probably sloppy writing and they read it wrong. Then I showed them the label (which the seller had sent me a photo of) which was clear as day, and they then admitted that sometimes the pickup people mix up zip codes when entering the info into the system.

Not saying this to you but how can they mix up zip codes when the labels have a bar code that must be scanned? I've shipped quit a few reptiles with zero issues. And some snakes being in the $2,000 - $5,000 range. In case your wondering, Amazon Basin Emerald Tree Boas and Green Tree Pythons.

With UPS if you hand address a mail piece, or if the address label does not have the zip barcoded, they will read it and barcode the zip they believe it is so their high speed sorters can sort it. If the software or person who reads the zip is wrong then every time it hits a sorter it may get missrouted until a human gets involved.

+1... Ups is one of the worst shipping I've felt with. Ordered an nem and zoas with one day shipping and didn't receive them until 5 days later. Everything was nuked.
That is the exact reason I fear online. That and what u see isn't always what I get. A nice frag in the pic then u get a tiny frag. Unless it's got a tag on it and ur ordering that given #. My LFS makes me not need 2. But I would like 2 know a good shipper when time comes

When I transport corals I use a piece of foam the size of the bag and put a whole in it and place the frag in the hole and flip it over so it's submerged and fill it with air then release some so it's not like a balloon and can have pressure put on it and not pop. And I use more foam on top so it prevents the frag from flipping over and b out of water. Wish I had a pic. Then use almost like beer bottle case and put the bags in that 2 keep them upright but that's for local and an idiot like u had where he flipped the box over with arrows upward and live fish so he woulda killed my coral if it was shipped. If I shipped I would test it soooo hard 2 make sure if idiots that hate here job got ahold of it wouldn't ruin some1s Christmas affect... and that pic abouve was 1/3 his store.

Well, I'd suggest maybe the driver couldn't read very well, but they even had pictures on the box.... :)

Excuses. Lots of excuses. But the fact is that it's horrible customer service. I don't care if there are places where it's worse, that doesn't make it ok. It is not unreasonable to expect items that we spend our hard earned money to be transported with care and not tossed around like a volleyball. Makes me sick that people think it's ok to trash items that don't belong to them.

Ups is horrible in my neck of the woods. Fedex isn't too bad.

I've had great experiences with both FedEx and UPS here in Winter Garden, Florida. Usually get the package by 9:30 am at the latest.
