Thinking about outing AIs on a 120g 48x24x24. Think 2 sols would be good. There is too many choices from AI

That's what I figured. So many people are selling them right now so figured with 3 tanks running might as well save some electricity in the house On one of the tanks lol. I'm a t5 for life man too swear I would never do led! How high or placement would you recommend on the 120? Sideways ? Thanks!

I'd get em so that you get as much spread as possible, that would be of your choice actually.

I have two AI Sol Blues over a 60" 100G mixed reef set 12" above the waterline and turned parallel to the tank width and couldn't be happier. I get great coverage compared to their 6" legs and more light than my old 2x250w MH and 2x140w VHO's provided. Best of all I went from 880 measured watts to a maximum of 148 watts plus have the ability to ramp up and down at any color. Not only was I able to ditch the old lights, I also sold a 1/4 HP chiller than no longer ran, my house AC does not work as hard, my canopy fans and sump fan never run anymore and my evaporation was cut in hald so RO/DI life went up too. I am probably saving $50 to $75 a month on that alone, not to mention more efficient pumps and powerheads and combining or manifolding pumping functions like reactors and such on one pump. I also switched my 16G nano from a 96w powerquad PC to 2x Excotic Panorama LEDs so cut power there too.

My main concern is I ALWAYS use T5s. Tek and Ati fixtures and LOVE the color and growth I get but don't want to lose the same growth /colors

At the moment I have both RBTA and carpet anemones, zoanthids, leathers, mushrooms and various LPS and all are doing well. I had a mojano infestation and have not stocked any SPS yet but they should do fine based on all the others if I get my calcium reactor back in action.

Main concern is zoas. They tend to lose there actual color u see some LEDs

Thats why I love the adjustability of the Sol Blues with their white, blue and royal blue bulb mix you can adjust individually to get the coloration you desire.

Would you guys have the LEDs over a 120g left to right or front to back?

Note I mounted mine side to side and the coverage is very good. In the photos you can see the overlap in the center so very little shadowing. A lot will depend on your optics though and the spread they provide. I chose to mount mine in T track so they could be moved side to side and front to back for best coverage since I did not know how it would work at first.

My lenses are stock ones what ever comes with brand new sol blues

How high do you recommend me keeping the lights on the 120. I wanna mount them and won't be able to raise or lower them later on
