You're good. Start slowly bringing copper up.so i did a fw dip. 5 mins. at the 4 min mark breathing did start slowing a little. no flukes that i saw ever came off fish or was present after dip. One thing I did think about was i airared the water before hand but stopped while I had the fish in the dip. no water movement while fish was in dip. would flukes dislodge there self from gills if they were present?
focus will be in wednesday. so do i start ramping up copper tomorrow and next day hike i wait for focus or wait till after i start feeding med food.
i will update how fish is doing after dip. it’s only been about 20 min since i put him back in but it seems his breathing has slowed some.
Yes I would do a freshwater dip for certain. If a fish expires as a result it was gone anyway. It’s more likely to help than hinder as a result.do you think i should do a freshwater dip now? i’m
worried about adding stress to the stressed fish but i blindly trust you. lol i am
getting a game plan together for a system to bringing new fish in and how to medicate them but i find my self scared to pull the trigger and just end up observing them in qt. should i pull fish out and fw dip? or weight it out and see if i can get him to eat some gc once i get my focus?
i habe 2 qt. 10 gal i bring fish from 1.018 to 1.025. currently the ten gal has 2 leopards and 2 midas blennies in it with a clear devider. the bigger healthier leopard is in first chamber with smaller / skinner less colorful blenny. the leopard that is acting weird is in back chamber with bigger more colorful and meaner blenny. i’m considering moving the big blenny and big leopard to the 55 gal qt that currently has a kohl tang emporior angel and potters angel in it. that would keep the fish from seeing another one of itself with only a piece of acrilick between them and may reduse stress. i’m worried about moving somthing over to that tank thow. again find my self stuck observing scrared to take action.
got it! in the future i will airate during as wellGood advice already given so far, seems like you are on the right track. Just something to note, for future reference... I would aerate the FW dip both before AND during, mostly to make sure the fish is getting adequate oxygen. A healthy fish won't likely have issues, but if you are dipping a fish with severe gill damage they may struggle in the lowered 02...
the fish has been eating lrs and fish eggs (unsure of brand) fairly good for a month yes. i would not call him a pig. was still a little on the finicky side but was eating. i will look i to epson salt. That’s not a good sign :/ has she been eating well for you, before recently?
A month is a little far in for collection issues, but swimbladder could be possible. I’ve also seen fish like this when they are too weak to fight anymore...usually after refusing any foods
You could try dosing plain epsom salt for the swimbladder...
ok so i habe a shot glass with food in it soaking in general cure and kaplanex. i was unsure how mitch to put on the food. the directions on the meds basically are for dosing into the water colum for ten. some clarity on how mitch med to put on the food would help. also doses 1.0 ml of viper safe into the ten gal at to start ramping up that. i have reason that and it’s a bit confusing but basically i need to reach 1.5-2.0 on my hanna checker for 12 days correct? i plan on just dosing 1 ml morning and night and check after till i reach the 1.5-2.0 mark then start the count down.

once i get there how long to i keep it there. do i need a air stone running while doing copper and feeding med food1.5-2.0 is big window with cheleted copper try to target 1.75 and keep it there. That gives you room to go down a little if your fish are sensitive while staying above the 1.50 therapeutic minimum.

Several small doses over 24 hours is good. We just ran in to velvet that survived 1.75 PPM so I’d recommend 2.0.so lost the one wrassmoving my attention to the other guys still in the qt. 1ml of coppersafe brought copper lever to .24. how quickly do i want to ramp up to 1.75?
