Less aggressive tangs

Fish are like people, there is always one in every bunch. you just never know which one you get. I agree with most, my vlaming was about 10 years old when I lost him and very large. Never saw him go after another tang. I had one flame tang in my 60 that was scared of everyone and another flame in my 180 that bullied a convict and clown tang to death. Go figure.

I think more important is the environment you set up and how they are introduced. I just recently pulled a yellow tang out of my 180, moved a rock and introduced a small sailfin and orange shoulder tang in with the flame that killed the other 2. So far a month later everyone is good and growing with no chasing or aggression.

In your experience which tangs are less aggressive? I see lots of things about Powder blues, Sailfins & Tominis being very aggressive. Amongst others like Sohals & Clowns. In your experience which are the least aggressive?
I had a convict who was probably my most peaceful, along with a small yellow in my reef tank that never seemed to bother anybody. And, I actually had a powder blue who was mellow as could be. My purple, on the other hand, was another story entirely...

Naso seems chill, powder brown and yellow on the other hand seem to be pretty feisty. Powder brown was introduced last and holds his own against the others. Hippo tang seems pretty non confrontational as well.

In my last 200+ tank I had 1 Purple Tang, 2 Yellow Tangs, 2 Hippo Tangs, 1 Sailfin Tang, 1 Orange Fin Tonomi Tang, 1 Vlagmingi Tang, 1 Kole Eye, 1 Clown Tang, and finally a Powder Blue Tang. All got along but had to add them in a specific order to do it. Many were added simultaneously and in similar sizes. Yellows went 1st then hippos, then Purple and Sailfin were QT'd and added at the same time. Clown tang went next along with Kole a week later and Vlamingi and Orange fin Tonommi and finally PBT. Only issues I had were with Clown tang who went after PBT and killed it...stress + ich. Added a larger PBT next and no problem. Clown left him alone...PBT. One day found clown DOA....then tank peace resumed. Sometimes it works...sometimes it doesn't but in general I found that order of addition works well.

Currently restarting new tank after velvet wiped out my previous Waterbox 135. Had 2 yellow tangs in that one, a hippo tang, a naso tang, and orange shoulder and an achilles. All did okay. Only one I had to remove was my sailfin who kept bothering NOT another tang but my emperor angel! Have Hippo and PBT in QT now to add when tank is back up and ready for them....although I may keep the PBT in QT for a bit longer to allow some more additions to prevent issues. So far he's mellow and no signs of ich or aggression but that again is in a QT all to himself!

All the people with tomini tang, do you have any blennies in your tanks? If yes, any problem bw tomini amd the blenny/ies?
I got a tomini and it forced my bicolor blenny to a cave till it perished.
Lost the tang to ich later.
Now I have a golden midas with no tangs in the tank. I want a tomini but past experience is keeping me from getting one.

I had a lawnmower blenny and was concerned because I've seen people with agression issues between them but didn't notice anything at all and I monitored them well. There is lots of algae in the tank which might have helped. The lawnmower unfortunately starved as I couldn't manage to have him eat and picking at algae didn't seem to sustain him sadly.

My tomini never bothered my Midas blenny. Tomini was one of my first fish

Every day I say how my Tomini might be the best fish I’ve had. Stands it’s ground but avoids problems.
Mine Tomini is fairly peaceful except toward other algae eating fish. He would chase my orange spot blenny relentlessly but does not bother any of the other fish.

WOW - that fish's built like a submarine and just looks like it enjoys a good fight! :D Would be afraid to put my hands in tank with that fish
LOL- 15+ inches

I have a bigger mimic tang. Only other algae eaters I have only eat nori and they are wrasse. Wrasse eat before tomini

My Midas Blenny gets very defensive when the Tomini gets close. The Tomini definitely enjoys the freakout reaction he gets from the blenny. No fighting but neither enjoy each other's company.

I had these tangs at one point: gem, black, purple, yellow, powderblue. The most aggressive was the yellow. Now I have a black (6”), powderblue (5”), and whitetail bristletooth (4”) and most aggressive is the whitetail surprisingly.

I have 2 yellows, purple, bristletooth and a large tomini in a 300. None of them show any aggression. Maybe it’s because of the large tank and they all have plenty of room. I also have a coral beauty, flame angel and a Foxface. They all get along great
