Lesson being learned

Ugh, thank you guys. I'll stock up on the things I do not have just in case. Dang! I do feel better that it looks more bacterial than oronema to you guys though. Dr. Google had me sweating last night about bleaching and sanitizing the tank, etc....

I always have these products on hand as well as the dr. G's as posted above. Just remember if you ever need to do a copper treatment you also need a copper test kit as well.

Poor little guy. I'm really sorry:(

I'm sorry for your loss as well [emoji22] When I started my 55 gallon tank a couple years ago, I over-stocked it, and too quickly too, plus I didn't have a QT. At the time, I wanted one last fish, which was a Kole Tang. It was stressed as heck, caused an outbreak of Ich, and within 1 week, I lost over $400 in fish. I then went Fallow for 6 weeks, setup a QT, and restocked SLOWLY. I haven't lost a fish in well over a year now (knock on wood). Good luck!

Ugh, how awful! I'm glad you haven't lost any more. It's such a sinking feeling. I think he was just so stressed.. And he had just been brought in from Hawaii.... It was just too much on him. I suppose it could have been much worse. My other fish are quite fat and happy.

Thats good, I'm sure they will stay that way. And just a little fact wrasses are very copper sensitive so just be careful in the future if you want to qt a wrasse!

Are you guys still thinking uronema? Or do you think it could be a bacterial infection from an injury?

I'm sorry for your loss. I agree with the diagnosis of a gram negative bacterial infection. They can often come on and kill faster than velvet. They are difficult to treat because treatment has to be started early and it's difficult to catch it early enough. For this you would have needed a dip in acriflavin followed by the "triple threat" (kanaplex, furan2 and metroplex).

Metroplex is a great one! It can treat brooklynella as well, I always keep kana and metro on hand as well as copper and formalin. QT is a must when there is other fish in a tank.

Add Prazipro to that list. ALWAYS keep medications for any type of illness on hand just in case the worst should happen and you're prepared.

Will do. Hubby (bless his soul) is running out to Walmart to buy a heater to try and save him and make him comfortable... We live in a small town away from everybody. Lol. So this will be a long trip. But here he is now... I think our efforts are futile. He's still breathing, and I've got a bucket ready with metroplex. I see some blood streaking near his mouth.

If I could barf right now from anxiety I would.

Did you buy him with that big lesion on him? And you say that formed in a day?

I didn't see a lesion or dark spots on him (though he was dark to begin with). At day 5 I noticed he had a scale coming off and I assumed he knicked himself when he burrowed under my live rock. Then the next day the lesion appeared and he died In 24 hours.

Sorry to hear that. He was a beautiful fish. Nowadays you have to assume every fish comes with some sort of illness. It didn't used to be that way, but times have changed.

He was, and was really personable. He knew when I came to the tank that he'd get calan-eeze or my sis and would follow me. This is the only pic I have of him not dying, lol.

Lesson learned... I'll assume that for the future if and when I get more fish (I may hold off for awhilr since I'm upgrading anyway).
