Let’s see those sumps!

Getting ready to add this sweet Trigger Sapphire 34 to my long awaited new DT. This will replace my old Aqueon Sump. What I hate about the Aqueon sump is the return chamber and skimmer are on top of each other. The skimmer has been hit and miss lately - water high, water low... if it overflows, all the skimmate goes right back to the DT. blech - no thank you. Sapphire will be mechanical sponge before sock - which I will replace with cups with carbon, etc.... then skimmer, then fuge...through the black course sponge to purigen as needed and to the return. Return will go to UV and away we go.

I’ve always heard great things about the trigger sumps, they’re definitely well made

That’s pretty cool, I’ve actually been considering getting a sump from them but I’m not sure if I can justify the price tag yet lol

New, I’m right there with you. I picked this up used with the tank. But it’s a well made sump, I have no complaints. They Do make very nice products.

Yea I’m saving but I get impatient pretty quick so I’m hoping I’m the next couple weeks to just drop some money on one of theirs and be done with it lol, like ripping off a band aid

Wow. That’s no joke . How much total water volume in display and sump? Looks like that’s for a huge tank lol.

Quick DIY because my actual sump is still stuck in the Aquarium cabinet... everything is still a real mess. Moved everything to the laundry room in the basement.

That’s some serious ingenuity right there... do you have a pump running water up the the refugium or is it pumping down to the skimmer?

Seems fine to me for the small 100. Can't say I am a fan of the proprietary filter sock and they have made the opening so small that I cannot fit the Octo Aquatics basket for using a filter pad instead inside. So, I am running "no sock" or barefoot.

Tank is about 275G. The sump is around 50-60 gallons. I’m planning to plumb another frag tank into it that will be another 100 or so gallons.

That’s some serious ingenuity right there... do you have a pump running water up the the refugium or is it pumping down to the skimmer?

The overflow from the tank goes into the refugium (upper container) then flows down into the sump / skimmer area and then the return pump pushes it back up to the display.

It’s my first go in a reef tank since I was in high school in the late 90s. So I need some guidance and this sump provided that and Geo had awesome service etc. it also fit my WB 180.5 perfectly. I did the hard plumbing but other than that it was plug and play. The Clarisea filter that is incorporated is a no brained. Great workmanship. It took some time to deliver but worth the wait.
