Let’s see those sumps!

The build quality looked top notch, he was very responsive to all of my questions and I liked the dual filter rollers.
Thanks, I’ve been considering both them and synergy reef for a completely custom sump. I just need to find a way to justify the price tag lol

Good luck with that! They are pricey. Can you do the same thing with a 75G long aquarium? yes. Will it look as cool? No.

Haha exactly my thought process, also the fact the way I did my center bracing on my stand I have exactly 18.25” of space between the center braces so I’m not even sure a 75 would fit that width. I keep going back and forth about just moving the back center brace half an inch so I can have the space but I keep telling myself it’s too much work lol

Also, you mentioned Synergy Reefs. If they had the AFR model they have available now when I ordered mine, I would have considered them more. Both look like good sumps. I do like Geos design a bit more on how he has his refugium and reactors placed.

Modular HDPE sump and fuge made by Custom Aquariums.

What I like:
  1. Easy to install and remove since its modular. There are three components in my setup. From left to right: Single sock tub (tallest chamber); baffle/return tub; and small reservoir (fuge).
  2. Glass tops on all sections!! Can you say little or no humidity in the stand?
  3. Separate fuge: The fuge has a separate flow from the main sump that I can control.
  4. Easy to drill: It was trivial to drill the bulkheads for the skimmer, returns and feed for the fuge.
  5. Easy to maintain: Sump is easy to keep clean with one exception noted below. I can easily suck any detritus out of the sock tub when performing a water change
What I don't like:
  1. A bit too opaque: It can be difficult to see what's going on inside every corner of the sump, but extra light from a flashlight will help.
  2. Not room for an in-sump skimmer: You would essentially have to use one of the reservoir size containers to fit pretty much any skimmer. An external skimmer was the only way for me to get everything I wanted to fit the stand. Not that I'm complaining...I don't mind an external skimmer
  3. Stuff does stick to HDPE: They claim that nothing sticks to it and they are mostly correct. However, I have some green algae that has grown on the inside of the fuge and it does not scrub off easily. There's also some salt creep around the glass tops, but not too bad.
  4. Need magnetic holders: the shape of the tubs with the molded recessed glass tops means typical ways to mount probe holders, additive tube holders, etc.. will not work. You have to use magnetic holders and even there you have to be careful where you place things with the molded shape of the sides.

That’s awesome! I’ve heard a lot of great thing about them. But I’ve never seen one in action so it’s cool to see them still being utilized
 
For those that are curious here’s my existing sump on my 75g. The DIY route has proven to be quite successful

Used trigger systems Sump plumbed to 180 gallon dt that drains into a 40 gal fish only tank then back to the sump
 
225 gal. DT. Pre-stage skimmer sump, DIY Main sump changed socks to roller media, fuge with external return pump. Auto water change station in the basement. Still work in progress......
