C. roseafacia? Transitional male?

C. roseafacia4.jpg
Yes, but just barely transitioning.

DD had it listed as a terminal male.:D Been watching it for a few days.....couldn't resist. I love watching wrasse grow up!
They're not perfect on their listing ID's, but it's pretty rare I see then miss a bit. A favorable miss here, IMO. :)

I was in my be of our LFSs here in Phoenix. They have a beautiful wrasse and they him labeled as a Cebu Exquisite Fairy wrasse. I have personally never seen or heard of that species so I’m looking for some assistance. It looks to me as a Scott’s Fairy Wrasse. Please see the pic below.

Cirrhilabrus melanomarginatus, blackfin fairy wrasse.

I have a red velvet, pintail, tri color. Would he be fine with those in a 180? I’m sure it’s a huge gamble

It might work; use an acclimation box to be sure.

? Filaments and caudal shape of the filamentosus and caudal color of the flavianalis? Trying to learn!
More or less; you can see both fish in there mashed together. Coloration of the dorsal and anal are much more flavianalis.
I knew you were going to say that. ;) I was told P. Paineorum, which is a hybrid correct?

Thanks!
That whole classification debate is a mess. I haven't seen the paper on paineorum yet, but it certainly feels rather unresolved to me.

Not the best pics but he has a yellow belly. His anal fin is redish and reminds me of P. Rubricaudalis

Yeah seems that way. But reminds me of poor man's P. Bellae. He has great colors. Thanks!

Nice fish and already snapped up. LA DD had it as a C. punctatus from Fiji. What do you think? Don’t recognize that coloration from Fiji.

LOL. Funny you bring this up. I've had a long PM going with a member over the course of the past month helping assess his wish list. I noticed this one today when DD listings went live and saw right away it's not punctatus. Then the member messages me and says "I bought the punctatus today". I told him to cancel it. :P So you'll probably see it come back tomorrow or Wednesday.

So what's the deal here? It's definitely temminckii, but temminckii isn't found in Fiji - hence why it got the punctatus label. So either temminckii has a bigger range then previously known, or the Fiji label is wrong on it. I suspect the latter... :)
