heres another. not sure why i cant. maybe cuz im on my iphone.

i thought it was a male cresent turning supermale. about 3” long but the dark body kinda threw me off so maybe a variant.

I see the true temminckii, which has a pretty wide distribution; not very regional.

Yep....big, ugly and mean as an adult. It's a shame they don't stay juvies. They are quite attractive as youngsters.

Ok, didn't see a direct match so I'll submit one at my LFS. They have it listed only as a "Maori Wrasse". It does have the Maori patterning around the eye:
