Here’s a fun one, I know genus and species, but curious if female or transitional
H. timorensis, female. Males are green with a different pattern.

I know it’s a hooded, but it’s bathyphilus and not efatensis right?
And what clues to look for in regards to transition to male?

thanks!

Some sort of fairy wrasse.

Hi there, here’s my new guy or girl. LFS said exquisite but I didn’t believe them. After online research I’m confused. Can you please help ID? Thanks.

C. cyanopluera, female

okay thank you, it was sold to me as a female. Should have known better. Maybe that explains some of the aggression that I am seeing from the P.Octotaenia male I already have.
Octotaenia is a cut above the rest in the genus for aggression. It likely won't accept any other Paracheilinus in only a 60g tank.
If the tank was double that size, you might have a chance.

okay then will have to keep an eye on it and look for options if it gets worse.
