Let Me ID Your Wrasse!

Another wrasse I wanted but arrived dead. What is it?

Paracheilinus cyaneus.

I relayed the info to the fish owner. They have reported there are not tail spots. I mentioned possibly the Greyhead wrasse, they then said the colors were off.

Unfortunately, I do not have any other photos.

It is a juvenile, the colors will change, though based on the tail pattern I believe it is either H. richmondi or more likely H. leucurus.

The stripes on the gill plates are wrong for richmondi though. It could be leucurus and right at that tricky transition point; that is a possibility.

I don't think its a Richmonds either. I raised mine from a juvi and although it does look similar I thinks it's a Greyhead, which I have also, because of the V coloration on its tail.

The LFS worker netted the wrong wrasse a couple months ago and I didn't notice until I got home. Assumed colors were muted due to stress at the time.
Which variety is she please? After QT, she'll be with a few other cirrhilabrus wrasses (acclimation box will be used), so I'm assuming she'll change at some point.

Looks like either a cyanopleura or a cf. cyanopleura aka ruby head.

Agree; probably the latter but at this size it's tough to tell those two apart.

Cirrhilabrus filamentosus, possibly the most aggressive fairy wrasse.

Received as katherinae but after seeing them get their color back, I'm leaning towards balteatus.

This was sold to me as an earmuff wrasse. Is it a juvi? It's more reddish pink that the adult two I also have.
