Flavianalis is definitely one half of the hybrid equation, but I don't think angulatus is the other half, the caudal is too purple. It would either be cyanaeus or filamentosus.Ok Hunter. I got this one from a LFS and it came in with a batch of filamentosus flashers. It was an oddball, and I can't really match it up to any of the Paracheilinus in either the Fairy and Rainbow Book or the big Kuiter Bible I just got a few weeks ago. I'm thinking hybrid, but he doesn't really mesh up with anything. I have and have had a number of species already in the genus. Been lurking for a long time and finally signed up. He is in QT for the moment and I know the glass is bad on the back, but he snacks on the pods and algae, so I leave it for the fish. He got beaten up a bit in the store by a solorensis. The images don't show how vivid the blue margin is on the lower edge of the anal fin. He had several filaments as well, but they got damaged by the solon. We have had him for 3 weeks now, and his color has improved, as he was kind of drab brown and orange blotched when we purchased him. At first I thought he was a filamentosus x flavianalis, but now maybe he is filamentosus x angularis with the longer trailing edge of the anal. Also, his tail is slightly lunate, with a reddish-blue band up and down. He won't flash much just yet, but I imagine once he gets into the DT he will be amazing. He's hard to get a photo of, but he does know where the food comes from now. Thanks
Zac

A Philippine's crescent. C. cf. lunatus.I recently picked up this wrasse and my initial thought was that it was a crescent tail. It was sold to me as a female pintail, but I'm still convinced it's a cresent tail due to the subtle shape of the tail and the slight black coloration of the fins. I do actually already have a male pintail fairy wrasse and the 2 are not alike. I'm thinking it's a juvenile male crescent tail. Sorry for the bad pic, but can anyone confirm? Thanks.![]()
P. flavianalis.I picked up two beautiful flasher wrasses this week. Here's a picture of the first one. Which flasher is it?![]()
