Here's a picture of him my glass is dirty and this is when my tank just started so it dosent look like this anymore. But that's him

Tanks dirty cause it was early and was in the tank pulling Saltwater on the glass

Thank you. I was told Christmas wrasse.

I'm beginning to think that every Halichoeres wrasse in existence has been called a Christmas Wrasse by a LFS somewhere! :D

Yea that's what was on their sheet when it came in. It didn't look like another one I seen at a different store.

There's at least 5 species it can semi-regularly refer to, plus one other Thalassoma.
I [still] hate common names...

I suspect the female of my johnsoni pair is transitioning. Can someone please confirm. Thanks!

Ordered this from LA as Halichoeres Claudia but am pretty sure this is actually an Ornatissimus. If it is an Ornatissimus I am pretty disappointed,as I did not want a fairly aggressive 7" fish in my display next year lol... Thanks for the ID

Yup.

He's not a very aggressive eater. The other fish out compete him a lot. That being said I've only had him a few weeks

Yes, H. ornatissmus.

Yup.

Thank you for the confirmation. Will it be a good tank mate or become a nuisance eventually? Information is surprisingly difficult to find on the different species often sold as xmas wrasses. The only consensus I could find is that you want claudia and not ornatissmus but with little reason as to why other then ornatissmus gets larger.
