Thanks TJ @eatbreakfast . i recently added a P. carpenteri without an acclimation box , against my better judgement (and my wife's) and the Rubyhead has been showing aggression towards it. Is this possibly due to it transitioning ? Carpenter has only been in there a week now and was hiding the first 3 days. Do you think this is a typical josting for dominance or will the rubyhead continue to bully it? Rubyhead is easily 4 times bigger than the Carpenter. i wouldn't have figured their to be aggression between the two but i won't pretend to be an expert on this subject.Looks like a transitioning C. cf. cyanopleura, ruby head wrasse, to me.
If the carpenter wrasse is coming out then I wouldn't worry. The rubyhead will always show a degree of dominance, but as long as it isn't relentless, it's nothing to be concerned with. Thanks TJ @eatbreakfast . i recently added a P. carpenteri without an acclimation box , against my better judgement (and my wife's) and the Rubyhead has been showing aggression towards it.
