5" long and came in with a bunch of yellow tangs if that helps. I wanted a yellow coris, but the first lfs I went to didn't want to mess up their display to get one out, so I went to a second shop and got this one. They assured me he would take care of my snail problem, they were right lol.

Would be h ornatissimus if it were Hawaii but they are typically more red and green than blue imo (could be the photo). Both are called Christmas wrasse (along with h claudia).

Do they change color? He's under T5's and he was red and green when the day started, not sure if they can change color or if the T5's have a warm up period, but he for sure went from red and green to orange and blue. I didn't know if that was a wrasse thing , or maybe my lights, ATI coral+ and blue+. This was in the morning.

I'll defer to @evolved but it certainly looks like biocellatus to me. Either way their behavior and size is identical imo.

It's a male H. biocellatus. They are more peaceful than H. ornatissimus. The color difference was real. While not as spectacular as fairy and flasher wrasse displays, Halichoeres wrasses can btighten their colors in displays to ward off rivals or aggressors.

Thanks, I was starting to wonder if I had a bad ballast, he just did it while I was watching him. I guess I'm the aggressor.

As already stated, it's H. biocellatus. Which means it did not come from Hawaii.

Both are called Christmas wrasse (along with h claudia).

Plus others, too. Common names are terrible.

I have this Pink Margin Fairy Wrasse (C. rubrimarginatus) on the way. Any idea on which regional variant it is? It was listed as Indonesian, but I think it looks more like Tonga/Fiji. What do you think? Either way, I like it!
