Let Me ID Your Wrasse!

I recently made and online purchase for a Paracheilinus Cyaneus yesterday (got it today) however, I received something different...Not entirely sure what he is but he is too big for my current tank. He also appears to have some white on his upper lip as well.

It was cheap. I should have gone with my gut and grabbed her. I'm just not an expert with wrasse IDs, and I didn't want to end up with some Thalassoma spp that I didn't want. Was labeled as 'blue head wrasse.'

I don't blame you; shouldn't ever buy something you're not sure about.

And that common name is a problem, as that one typically does map back to a Thalassoma.
The common name for C. cyanopleura is "blue sided wrasse".

As I've said many times, common names are terrible - don't trust them.

Sorry if its not even a wrasse, but i kinda assumed it was from shape and looks

Halichoeres is a mess. This is a species of a distinct sub-group that will definitely be split off, someday.

Why isnt it collected? Is it just too restricted in range
