I run the tunze return pumps for two years with no problems and they are super quiet

I'm using an iwaki 70rlt on my 225 gal. 26 gal a min at 31ft head height Mine is right outside my sump. Don't know if I need more or not? I have it sitting on foam board to quite it a bit more but was already pretty quiet

I'm curious what setups people use for return pumps on their systems?

I for instance use both a Rio 1700 and a Rio 2500 on my 120g tank. I'm thinking that this isn't enough? I'd like to get just one single pump and cut some electricity consumption.

Happy to help via Tapatalk:)

Really my Rio ran for two months and froze up solid! I use a Mag 9.5

A lot of people but not all use a small pump for there returns and use power heads in the display. The return pump usually matches there skimmer output. So you probably could get down to one pump and put a couple of good power heads in the tank. That will cut back on power and give you one pump. If you had it a pair of mp40's probably bring your tank alive. IMO

I have a reeflo Bh 1460 and panworld 100pxx as backup , since the reeflo bh is fairly new I'm not sure how long it will last. Works great so far during fresh water testing. It also has adjustable flow and wattage which I think is a nice feature to have right on the pump. It includes threaded unions on input and output which saves you from getting the extra plumbing parts. We'll see how it goes in the long run.

I use an Eheim 1250 as a return for my 47G tank. Seems just enough for my needs.

I use a Little Giant 4-MDQX-SC but I have a Reeflo Dart I plan to use some day.....

the LG has been running for over 3 years and never been cleaned,it's still very quiet and has always had a very strong flow, even with the 1" SCWD...

I used an Eheim 1262 on the smaller tanks that I've had in the past,I use it now to feed my skimmer, the 1262 is over 5 years old,it has been cleaned a few time but it still performs like new and has always been very quiet....I have ran it both externally and submerged and always had great service with it,it's 1 of the best pumps on the market IMO

I can say that the 1262 and the LG have both been excellent pumps...the 1262 just wasn't big enough for my tank now, although the LG isn't rated for much more flow than the 1262,it overcomes the head loss much better,it has a much stronger output in the tank

ReeFlos are good pumps,I use a hammerhead on my closed loop,it's a couple years old now and been doing great
