this is my sump .

125 gal 6ft tank for my sump First chamber on left is Chaeto and any other algae that grows in there. Middle chamber is calurpa and other macro algae.

The chaeto growth is incredible and for now I have not allowed it to have small amounts of die off. I know that is the recommendation I just can't do it yet lol. It was difficult enough to stop doing water changes but not thinning a very thick chaeto ball even just a little is very difficult for me. Lol

I've spent the past month replacing everything in my cabinet and getting ready to start running the Triton method. I'm almost there. The tank is a 125g reef ready with dual Megaflow overflows. I replaced the Durso stand pipes with a dual Herbie set up. The return is 1 1/4". I think I should be able to get close to the recommended 10x flow. My dosing container will be here Tuesday. Once that arrives I will be ready go.

Starting a new tank tomorrow. How long should I wait until I implement either the triton, or triton "other" system? When is it best to begin?

Also - My fuge is ~10% of the DT capacity, but I'm utterly baffled whether to go full triton or "triton other". Any reason not to go full Triton??

On my list of things to buy is a 10x return pump and a high quality LED fuge light to feed the chaeto etc.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

How do you all determine the size of your return chamber? Seems like a stupid question to me but I'm building my sump now and going full Triton,, I have almost half of a 40 breeder as fuge, then just enough room in skimmer section for skimmer, then return section just big enough for return pump..

Do you all just make certain sections big enough just for the equipment going in them or are you calculating some specific water amount in each section? I don't want to make return section too small,, what are you all doing? Thanks all..

I’ve made mine as small as possible, so my return can fit in it.

This is because of the following.

Little return chamber = lots of flow to stir up the Triton core 7 adding. (I’m adding the base elements in return chamber).
Little return chamber = little variation in water highs/ auto top of kicking in early.
Little return chamber = more space for refuge.
