lets talk tangs

Actually this gentleman had both a 70 cube and the 100 gallon tank and two Achilles. Yes it was housed with many other fish. Clowns, other tangs as well

too bad just gentleman is a mystery.Lol because it seems like we might all be able to learn a few things:)

does anyone in the club have a whole school Of the same species?

Lol, he is sometimes active and does attend a few meetings throughout the year but usually in the shadows. Lol

Oowww I know who you're talking about, is it frowned upon to even speak of him...........?

Lol, I'd like him to remain nameless out of respect, lol. If he wishes to chime in then so be it.

But he breaks all the rules...and he inspires me :)

I'm a card-carrying tang police officer. This thread makes me...cringe. Honestly though, I deeply dislike all big fish in reef tanks, so admittedly I'm SUUUUUPER biased.

IMO the scopas is the best for this task. By a long shot.

I think the Kole is the best for algae eating (just my opinion though). Those bristle teeth really help it scrape away. It also depends on what kind of algae you're talking about too.

I have a 120 with the following. Placed in order of introduction.

(1) Yellow Tang - 4"
(1) Blonde Naso - 6-7"
(1) Purple - introduced at 1.5" ...maybe less (He hid a lot) now 2.5-3"
(1) Sailfin Tang - introduced at 2" now 4"
(1) Lavender Tang - 6-8"
(1) Powder Brown - 2.5-3"

They all got along swimmingly. It was stunning with the two large tangs. Kept it that way for about a month. The lavender was a slob.....going in AND out....so I decided to remove the Naso and Lavender. The amount of poop was getting gross. This weekend I removed the Brown to put in my frag tank. I can't say they are any happier with less tangs in the tank. Less competition for the Sailfin. Brown got ich and beat it after a week. All of them are extremely healthy.

First time I added a new tang (yellow and naso were intro'd at same time) there was a little bullying. The yellow was 3-4X larger then the purple. I learned after that to introduce new tangs at night. No more problems.

Gonna get a Powder Blue next :)

90 gallon with a small scopas and soon a small powder blue that is in qt.

I'm wanting to buy a couple tangs for my 150 gallon tank I want regal, and Atlantic hubby wants a yellow can I add them all?

i dont see why not, that seems like a good mix:) all three are said to be semi aggressive. so its always a gamble
