Ok, so how do you feel about the flat out killing of lion fish in coastal Florida waters in order to eradicate them completely,
I think this goes down to the difference between pets and invasive species. It was irresponsible pet owners released their lion fish the first place to start this mess.
The big ones like that tend to be pretty hardy still, but I can definitely see how it would be in bad shape, from what you're describing... If you ever need to, shipping isn't too hard, I usually get one of those small, disposable styrofoam coolers that Walmart sells, put the fish in a big bag with lots of water, and stick that in the cooler, with some balled up newspaper, or whatever so it doesn't roll around. Then just box that up, and voila..
