Lifespan of ocellaris

Curious how long the average lifespan of ocellaris is. 4 years ago I got a mature, bonded pair that had been donated to our LFS. I have no idea how old they were, but apparently the female was unusually large according to several comments from friends. She was pushing 4 inches even then. Anyway, I lost the male a few nights ago and I'm trying to determine if old age was the culprit since everything tests normal.

I've had mine for 6yrs..going on 7. Friend of mine has had his for at least 10+ yrs.

Mine was 13 years old. It died when we lost power for three days during Superstorm Sandy

I’ve heard of people on here with some 20+. I think Ryan from BRS has one that’s over 25. I currently have 2 that at almost 6

I have a pair that are spawning regularly and I constantly think how is my male going to live with how little food he gets between taking care of the eggs. Mine seriously eats for a week then very minimal when the new hatch is laid. I’m guessing years of doing this will shorten his lifespan he’s currently 6.

I got a pair from a friend who lost his tank during Sandy. He said they were approx 15 - 16 yo. I recently lost one; but the other is still alive so it’s at least 23 yo.
BTW the PBT in my avatar was 17 when I lost it.

Sorry about your losses. Was the PBT mature when you got it? How big was it?

Thanks...It was a juvenile about 2-3” and it grew only to about 6-7” I think I remember reading somewhere that males are smaller than females.

They can live well over 20 years, easily over 30 years old in good conditions.

I know my friend Paul B has clowns that are at least 30 if not older. Although they’re not Ocellaris still the same family...

Probably not age as they have pretty long lifespans. 20 or 30 years but it’s not like every human makes it to 95. It’s hard to say what could be going on internally.
