My purple firefish comes out to eat...he's out most of the evening when only actinics are on...during the day with my Innovative Marine Skylights on, he seems to go into his crevice and stay there until he gets hungry...this is a Fusion10...nobody is bothering him and he seems perfectly healthy...are ff particularly sensitive to higher, white light?...all else seems fine with him...what you think?...I know that they are shy, but this guy appears to be photosensitive...any ideas to encourage him to stay out more?...Thanks...

All 5 of mine stay out all day pretty much until the blues come on during the evening. Took them a lil while to get comfortable though. Have had them all about 8 months

Mine is a late sleeper, won't come out until an hour or so after the lights come on. The lights ramp down for 4 hours and he usually darts into his cave around the 2 hour mark.

I have 2 firefish, one is a late sleeper, he comes out an hour after the light is one. His schedule of being out swimming changes from day to day, he is quite weird. Other firefish is out all day, goes to bed when the blue light comes on.

Mine is mostly out with the blue light...after breakfast, he goes back to his hole for most of the day...so far...

Mine doesn't come out for several hours after lights comes on..varies day to day but he usually is in and out of his cave throughout the day and goes to bed when the blue lights come on. Sometimes he doesn't come out at all except at meal time. Very odd fish

yes, odd...similar to mine:eek:

Very odd but beautiful fish, wish they weren't so shy! I was thinking of getting him another one to hang out with but I'm maxed out fish wise for my small tank

Got to be careful, Slipknotgrrl83...I didn't get a second ff because if they are not of opposite sex, they will tear each other apart...and its impossible to sex them...believe me, I asked a lot of ff people...not recommended. Mine, very gradually, seems to be coming out during the day...just a little...and always eats...does better with the actinic...I have a tailspot blenny in QT...when he enters the DT, I hope that they will hang out some...

Oh awhile, almost 2 years. Nope no pushy tank mates. I have a mated pair of percula clownfish and a yellow Coris wrasse and when ff does come out they are fine together.

What other fish do you have. My 2 darts wouldn't come out until I added a wrasse. They are very timid and might be frightened by too many larger fish or too few fish.
