Hey everyone so I’m already considering upgrading the Biocube 32 stock led lighting. It’s way too white for my taste I like more blue much better and I want more par. So I was thinking the nanobox upgrade but then I figured out I might be moving next year and I couldn’t take the tank with me so it would be a waste to buy them. If I do move next year I want to take the light with me so I can use it on a new tank I’ll get. My new tank will be 40 gallons max and most likely a cube. What light do you guys recommend upgrading to? I was thinking either an AI Hydra 26 or a Radion xr15 g5 blue. What do you guys think? An I’m ok with taking the top off too.

You would like the reef led 50 if you like blue and want a lot of par. Its $219.99. Just make sure you can mount whatever light you get onto the biocube. It has a 20x20 spread.

do you know the dimensions of the tank you are looking to upgrade to?

Ok now I’m considering just keeping the Biocube and shopping it over to where I live if I end up moving. So it’ll just be the Biocube 32 dimensions. I’m probably gonna go with the ai lights do you recommend the prime or hydra for the Biocube?

Steve's LED hands down

So happy you are willing to take the top off, that opens up a lot of options and gives you much better gas exchange. When I had my biocube I ran a kessil 360we on it, it was nice, the last few months I had it I had a 360x on it and that was incredible for that tanks dimensions. I would pick 360x or xr15. AI’s are good too.

dimensions will be key in helping you with that

I would but the thing is I want to keep the light with me for over the years and eventually when I get a tank with a sump.
Smart man, I did the same thing.

So I think I'm gonna go with an AI light after some research and I'm paying a bit cheaper for nice quality too which AI light do you guys recommend? I was thinking the Prime but I'm willing to go with a bigger one. I probably won't have a big tank for a while since I'm going into college in a few years I'm not gonna have that money for a huge tank until after. For the next few years I'll have a tank between 20-40 gallons.

G5 xr15 pro is more than enough. I’m running it on a 24 cube and it’s getting it done right. The prime hd would get some drop off or shadowing. If going w AI I’d definitely do a hydra

Can you mount the Kessil or the Radio in the top by modifying the top?

I might be able to do that but it won’t have even spread if a Radion is 3 inches from the waterline in the top. I already built a new top so I’m just gonna mount it above the tank.

I just bought a Kessil 360x today and installed it on my biocube. Removing the hood was easy as was the setup of the light and mount. I gotta say its a beautiful light on a biocube and i'm more than happy with it.

By the way i looked at modifying the top also.... your'e better off just removing it and getting a lid from Octo-lids

Yeah I just removed the top and made my own. At the moment I’m deciding between the noopsyche k7 Pro, the hydra 32 “x and kessil 360x. Can you post some pics of the kessil I would love to see it on a Biocube.

sure give me a few minutes and ill send

you have to offset the mount from center about 2 inches, 6 inches up from waterline as per BRS testing........but man you hear about the shimmer on these but you dont realise how good it is till you see it in person
