Lights on when cycling

I didn't have any lights for my 25 gallon for about 4 months. Put lights on after. Got a little diatom bloom within 3 days it's gone and the fish tank looks like it's been set up for a year.

Most people don't - no need for them and you're likely to just cause more algea growth.
not if there's no algae in the tank.

the last dry tank I did I got no algae and blasted the lights just to see what would happen. once you see fuzz and algaes etc you need to starts adding snails any way.

It was a good experiment too. I left the tank completely empty and blasted it with light. it got really gross(no green algaes or cyano). I scrubbed it. It got gross again, I scrubbed it again, and added snails only. Has been clean ever since.
