Lights!

I went with the current orbit marine. My tank will be a year tomorrow and I am happy with the light. I am getting good growth and starting to get good color after trial a and error. If there is one thing I learned in this past year, is that it is all based on a combination for parameters, trace elements, lighting, Ro/di filteration, auto dosing and paitents.

I started with the current orbit marine. Soft corals and zoas responded to the light. Just did not seem like enough. I added a 21ledusa strip light. Added a few LPS and their growing.

I'd go with a 6-8 bulb fixture just so you won't have to upgrade if you ever decide to go for higher light demanding corals such as sps.

Remember that most people don't run their leds all the way up. You can get something that puts ouf tons of light and run it at half power. Better to have too much power than not enough. I have run the current orbit and black box leds. The currents are a little weak in my opinion. The cheap box leds put out lots of light, but don't seem to produce the greatest colors imo. I'm currently looking to upgrade to a nice t5 setup. The sbs mentioned above seem to have a better light spectrum than typical leds, but they are fairly new and don't have a long track record yet. If they work as advertised, they could be the best value out there right now. That's a big if, though.
