Does anyone have an info? How’s the quality?I was thinking about making the switch from RC.

Also curious if anyone has been using it. Funny you mention possibly switching from reef crystals. I talked with them at MACNA and they said one of the major reasons they launched it was because Instant Ocean messed up their plumbing.

Wow I didn’t know that. I’m going to order a few boxes, They have a great deal right now. Spend 125 get $50 gift card

Some people think it is repackaged Fritz, which may have some quality control issues, but I do not know that to be true or untrue

Thanks randy I’m going to give it a try. I’ll check the numbers when I receive it.

Sounds good. Let us know what you find.

I finally got around to testing this salt. I did my 1st water change with it last night. It came out well in my opinion. SG .026 cal 420 alk 9.3 mag 1420

I switch to the liveaquaria salt mix about 2 months ago and have been very pleased. I had been using Instant Ocean and every time I mixed it up I would get residue such that I was frequently cleaning out my mixing tank. The liveaquaria salt has been great, crystal clear with not residue.

Hey guys, Hows the salt working out? Getting ready to buy some. Still not alot of info out their from hobbiest.

@Coronus I'm wondering if you ever made the plunge and tried the LA salt? If so, do you have any feedback or experiences you can share? I'm thinking of trying this salt. I have used IO forever, but thinking of switching due to the change to MAP.
Thanks!

I use it regularly now. When I got the first box I tested everything and the results were amazing.
I don’t remember 100% the exact numbers cause its been a while but I remember most. I will check my previous posts. Now that Dr Fosters is no more I have to admit I have some concern that quality might drop. I dont trust Petco at all. Other than that its great stuff. Mixes clear and most important, Alk was 8.0 and Potassium was 400.

Thank you!! I needed some reassurance from someone that I trust. I've seen your SPS posts, and you've got great stuff!;) I really appreciate your reply!:)

Thank you! I appreciate that! I did check my post. Here are the results:
DKH 8.3
Cal 400
Mag 1400
K 400
These are great results and this is what I keep my tank at typically.

Lucky you! If this is fritz, which it appears to be, I had alk mix up close to 10.0 on two 200 gallon boxes. Other than that, it does mix quickly and did sustain acros for 3 months in the system they were in.

I really wanted to buy the LA salt when there was an additional 40% off sale... but was afraid of the Alk and possible Qc issues I was reading about.

I'm curious to know if this is re-branded Fritz, or if LA is correct when they say this is their own salt mix. @TitanCi Do you have anything showing that it is in fact made by Fritz?

No but all the labeling and wording on the box is awfully similar to fritz. To be honest, the LA is dirt cheap if they give you the coupon codes... it came out cheaper than regular IO.

I just didn’t want to get stuck with 4-6 boxes of salt that would “potentially” give me issues, although with the two boxes I used, I had none. Just high alk.

Sometimes I think I just over read and think too much with what’s on the internet, in this case regarding the salt.

Well, to be honest I'm worried about it too;). I've been using IO for the last 7 years with no issues, but now I'm thinking about switching.
I make 100 gallons of water at a time, and have an auto water chance system that changes out 4 GPD, so I'm hoping to avoid inconsistency issues. Also with the AWC, changes in Alk shouldn't be of concern, but I am seeking others advice before I make the change.
