Livestock Delivery Delayed via UPS...What Now?

Dang, did you hear if they were shipped with a detoxifier?

Not sure how it will go but just to try and give you some hope I once had a shipment with a squamosa clam and a bunch of frags get delayed 5 days. Everything was alive when I finally got the box in.

Clams are somewhat finicky so I’m hoping that’s a good sign for me! There’s some rock nems, leathers and gorgonians in there too. We shall see!! [emoji28]

This makes me feel better! I ordered from a diver himself and not a large outfitter like LA, but I’m hoping he takes all the standard precautionary measures in case of delays.

If one buys directly from originator it is extremely important to do a QT.

Everyone keeps mentioning use prime asap. Don’t you have to insure the shipper doesn’t have copper in their water before using prime? If copper is used you need a seperate container set up with matched salinity of shipper so you can transfer fish after temp acclimation immediately after opening bag.

FedEx is SO much better. I don't know why so many fish/coral places use them. FedEx is similar on rates.
UPS mixes next day, 2nd day, 3 day, and ground......causing a lot more mix ups!

All of these could still possibly be ok, and they should be bagged separate hopefully if the nems don't make it at least some of your stuff should.

I suppose that depends on where you live. I just found a pile of Fedex packages on my porch that don’t belong to me. Second time this week. Fedex rarely delivers anything to my house until 7 at night so they sat out in -10 degree weather for 12 hours. Good thing they aren’t fish!

Remember that this time of year parcel delivery carriers are overloaded. Many hire holiday help to cover what they estimate the volume will be. With online sales up, problems will happen. You have miss routing happening at all levels. Then you have weather issues as well as equipment problems. Running at max rpm is hard on everything. I can say that when I worked for UPS in the next day air program we drove a lot during the holidays. Max at what gov reg would allow. I remember driving 2 packages 150 miles to make a delivery. They missed a UPS flight and were put on a major airline flight. When we got them it was to late to have them go thru normal channels. Stuff happens. I try to avoid ordering delicate stuff when weather is bad near the carriers hubs (Louisville and Alanta) or anywhere near the supplier and around Christmas.

Waiting at the door like a puppy dog!!!! It’s been on the truck for delivery since 9:23am....still waiting and it’s pushing 72 hours since originally shipped. ‍
