I’ve had the Emperor Angel since April 2020 at about 1-1/4”, and he’s now about 4”… he didn’t bother any of the coral, I believe because I got him before developing bad habits…
I added the Regal about 14 months ago and that’s where destructive habits began.
Now I can’t have any long tentacle LPS, the Regal went for my Euphyllia sp. and the Emperor decided he was missing out and joined in the feasting. They eventually went for my 14” Aussie Elegance coral and that was the extent of their taste for coral, leaving my SPS, Nems, and all other LPS to remain…

Both - Spectacular angels!

I would put up with some nipping for those beauties!

Its an 8 bulb tek light. 48"
My tanks 48x48x24
I haven't tried much sps really sorry but no I don't thinknid have a problem. I haven't done par readings or tests or anything but she's bright lol.
D
I think the height of 27” with the fixture roughly 6” from
The water .
Rocks are I believe 12” from the lights

I apologize the tank looks longer in the picture .

So your 5th aquarium!

Talk about living the dream…. Very envious!!!
Lol we have more than that. We have the 180 gallon, 2x 20 gallon quarantines, the 65 gallon (which will be seahorses once these guys move into the 180), the 75 gallon reef, 2x 13.5 gallon fluval evo reefs, the 9 gallon clown pair, the 47 gallon rimless reef, 2x 150 gallon fancy goldfish stock tanks, a 5 gallon freshwater planted I set up for micro rasboras (looking for the right ones), a 125 gallon freshwater community, and a 3 gallon freshwater planted vase with a koi betta.

Basically it just means a high electric bill and a lot of debt. But it makes me happy and is a great source of stress relief for me.

Holy cow!

When do you put up the “Open for Business Sign”?

And when do you have time to do anything else?

It's what I do all day. I'm the petcare manager at the PetSmart where I work. I take care of animals all day every day. We also have 2 dogs, 4 cats, a parrot, 8 snakes, and 4 geckos at home, plus an orchard of about 65 fruit trees and a garden.

Sounds like paradise!

Well guilty as follows:
• CBB
• Flame Angel
• Coral Beauty

the angelfish behave great. The CBB only has an appetite for one specific item! The Rock Flower Anemeone. I easily choose the CBB over the Rock Flower nems!

I have an emperor angel aka el Heffe - who keeps the rogue Kenyan tree at bay ( added when I was a wee knewbee) and a flame angel who periodically will target one acro who, when needed, I move to my other 200 g tank. In hindsight, I shouldn’t have added either angel. In my “reef safe “ other tank, I have a swallow tail angel who is a model critizwn

I’ve seen the same thing; my regal is the instigator in coral munching and the Emporer joins in if he sees the regal eating. They will eat elegance as they ate one in a day. They had shown no interest in it for a few days and I came home one day and it was a goner. They’ll eat acans, zoas, chalices, fungia plates etc. but leave torches, euphyllia, and sps alone. They’ll eat lobos and favia, but leave favites of the same color alone. It’s hit or miss, but the regal will taste everything at least once. When a new coral goes in, he’s tearing his fins out to get to it and inspect it and have a taste.
The loss of the elegance was a gut punch. It was stunning. The regal almost went away that day, but he’s a pretty cool fish so he got a reprieve.

That beautiful Regal Angel is just so tempting!!!

They are all reef safe

:D I had a feeling you might post here!

Definitely agree with a lot of people on here. Add the fish you want, remove the corals they like to eat. I have a blueface angel in my SPS dominated reef and he doesn't really touch anything. He DID start to chew on softies so I removed them. I removed all the LPS before adding him to the tank just in case. My lagoon has 2 Rhinecanthus spp. triggers in it and they are awesome for a reef. Will add them to the SPS reef at some point I'm sure. Oh, and I did add a niger trigger to my main reef about a month ago.

This is a game changer and there should be a separate forum for this topic.

Im realizing that there are additional non reef safe fish you can keep in your reef but you need to know the risks and you might need to change out some corals to accommodate certain fish.

All these beautiful angels and so little room for my FOWLER

have nothing so exotic - will only validate 2 well knowns... Blue jaw triggers are fine, swims up stream and eats what is fed to him and the other is that fox face can neither be trusted to graze algae, nor leave softies alone....

Good point! I certainly don't think that it's wise to add fish willy nilly. The responsible reefer needs to do their research before adding ANY fish in my opinion.
