Living Dangerously With Non Reef Safe Fish

I have a bi-color angel and pink tail triggerfish both of them seem uninterested in any corals or inverts. However, the pintail did eat the peppermint shrimp on it's first day in the tank, but since then it's been a model citizen. Don't want to jinx myself, but I`m debating of getting a snowflake eel and see if that works well because...doubt it lol

I had a Scarus Quoyi dwarf parrot for 3 years with no problems. Until my i reduced my feeding to try and reduce nutrients for the sps it was eating. It is now at the LFS having a holiday until I decide whether to go back to full SPS or perhaps bring him back into an LPS and softy tank and have a smaller sps tank.

I have a african flameback, lemon peel, and Flame. All get along fine in my 52 gal. The lemonpeel is the only one that attacks coral namely my green trachyphyllia, but won't touch any other corals also, won't eat frozen food only pellets of various kinds.

My Flame Angel and Coral Beauty are fine and I have had them for years. I have always been an advocate for the aiptasia eating File Fish but my last one went rogue-caught it and re-homed-and totally destroyed ALL of my zoa's, palys and started on my Elegance. I had a ton of zoa's and that was a heart breaker!

Like so many of you I also have a Coral Beauty angel fish in a predominantly softie tank. This is my 3rd Coral Beauty that has been a model citizen. It even leaves my feather duster alone.

I used to have a navarchus angel that also was a good citizen. I have often wondered if they behave themselves because my tank has an abundance of sponges?

Beautiful Regal angel. Perfect citizen for 2 years then proceeded to munch down almost every zoa and Duncan. Currently to go pure SPS and praying he doesn’t go after them.

Wish you lived closer - Im trimming back some corals and you could have for free!

Side note: ever planning on fragging that Torch? I'd love to get a trade going if so. It looks Identical to a torch I lost a while back.

I hate to ship these things cross country but if you want I will try. Have had this indigo gold torch for over 2 years and have fragged it 3 times.

My flame angel, was a model citizen for the longest time until he got curious about my hammers and torches. No more Euphyllia in this tank for me I guess

That’s a tough one - choosing between torches or flame angel?

Only one real option - Time to get the second reef!

Living on the edge....have a passer, LemonPeel, Flame, and mult color in full blown reef. Passer eats fleshy brain coral. Elegance, Acans.....sold them before they were totally destroyed......

a nibble here and there, no real damage.....
lemonpeel loves zoas, as a rabbit fish loves grand palys as well.

You see I would but they way my wife and I are set up… already running two systems one for sps and the other for the nems/Lps and I think if I tried to do another our marriage would be in jeopardy :rolling-on-the-floor-laughing:

Nopox, a tonnage of rock, and a skimmer. I feed every other day, although heavy till there full, especially the dragon eel. I havnt tested any param in over a month, I manually dose everything.

How much Nopox?

Pink tails are cute enough to get away with it...

I don’t have any non reef safe fish currently. If I were to have one I’d choose a flame angelfish. They look so beautiful with that bright red,

But I love my clams and corals much more than any singular fish, so no risking for my current tank!

If you consider pyramid butterflies reef safe with caution, I have a trio. But they really only eat aiptasia and xenia: I don’t like aiptasia and I don’t keep xenia. :)

Seems like everyone going one direction! Lol
