I know this is a daily occurrence, but I couldn’t even take a screen shot big enough to capture opening home page….

I also think it is just from the sheer number of people greeting them to the forum. Sometimes those posts can beo ths and months old but one peraon runs through all of them saying welcome....not a bad thing but can be a thing

I’ve noticed this too over time. Isn’t it weird how so many people decide to join at the same time?
Reefs capture human interest so not completely surprised. More surprised with continuous growth with todays prices and entry fee into the hobby…

Holidays and tax time also explain this phenomenon, at least in the states. It's exactly time for all those new years tanks to be cycled and ready for introductions and questions, and this, too, is not a bad thing, we're always here to help.

I agree with this. Looking at the several pages of them just now, the same 2 people said "Welcome" to probably 30 or 40 different threads.

That’s a good thing! My next observation was how friendly/welcoming our reefing community is on R2R…!

Face of this hobby is changing with an accelerating pace and there’s nothing one can do about it. Word FOWLR will be obsolete soon, everybody wants a reef, by minimum mixed one, but preferably SPS dominant. During my recent visit to one of LFS I have noticed that #1 tank in popularity is Fluval EVO 13.5. There’s nothing wrong about it, but running tank of this size as your first one can be quite challenging. Can I keep Tang in my 40 gal? Is my tank ready for Clownfish now? My kids are getting impatient. The only thing, which worries me here is number of fish, invertebrate and coral mortality in those new systems. Sure we are all learning, but there are articles, books, videos full of information about reefing and we don’t have to learn new hobby hard way

I agree. With the growth there will be lots of failed tanks. Either by LFS pushing sales, naive knowledge of the new tank buyer, or quick loss of interest in hobby for individuals that face issues while the tank is maturing… Teenage Tanks can be very problematic… :face-with-tears-of-joy:
I agree on mini-reef tanks not going to be successful for most. I’m not one for new regulations/laws,,,, But,,,,,, I feel like company’s pushing small/micro tanks for saltwater reefing should have a label on their packaging that the tank is not appropriate for newer saltwater hobbyists. This would eliminate the spare of the moment “I’m going to put a reef tank on my desk!” peeps from maybe buying. The companies will never put that kind of label on a product they are selling so failure is inevitable… That’s where R2R hopefully gets the knowledge to the interested peeps.
